Engineering Manager

Your role:

This Global Fleet/Assets Engineering Manager will support our Global Specialty Gases Business based in Allentown, PA (will also support the Hometown, PA site).

The following is a key list of Job Responsibilities and Key Interfaces:
Position duties include management of engineering personnel and oversight of their performance in all activities within the following equipment life-cycle phases:  engineering, design, development, fabrication, installation, testing and servicing of high-pressure gas and liquid containers and systems. 

 

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Manage international engineering team that designs/engineers our container packages (containers and valves).  Direct reports in the US, Korea, and Taiwan.
  • Oversee technical aspects of quality audits and complaint investigation
  • Capital Asset Management (owned containers) – Life cycle management and maintenance of owned containers.  Lease vs. Buy analyses.
  • Preparation of annual Container Preparation & Maintenance cost center budgets
  • Monitor and manage monthly spend
  • Recommend cost reduction strategies/actions
  • Vendor relationship management (technical).
  • SAP experience required.  Familiarity with running reports and analyzing data to monitor fleet assets, plan and perform maintenance activities, ensure containers are properly aligned on balance sheets.
     

Other related responsibilities:

  • Retirement/Sale/Disposal of Container Assets 
  • Container investment cost estimating/manage bidding by vendors
  • Container lease cost estimating/manage bidding by vendors 
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and applicable international codes and Standards (CGA, USDOT, IMDG, IATA, KGSC, JHPGL, etc.)
     

Prinicipal accountabilities:

  • Project Management: will oversee project teams performing design, build, maintain and install equipment, including valves, vessels and piping systems.
  • Technical Skills: oversight of engineering calculations related to areas including mechanical stress/strain, fluid mechanics, materials of construction, gas and liquid compressibility.
  • Decision-Making Skills: will need to use data and information to make engineering decisions on design selections.
  • Communication & Negotiation Skills/Good Team Player: will be working closely with operations, quality, purchasing, and other business personnel in a team environment.
  • External Communication: will be working with external organizations (Vendors, Customers, Regulatory bodies)
  • Job Skills: SAP Experience, Project Management experience, MS Office,

 


Who you are:

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • At least 10 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering

 

Preferred qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer License preferred.
  • At least 10 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering, with emphasis on Mechanical Design Engineering related to the following.
    • Pressure vessels, tanks, gas cylinders
    • Piping and valving systems
    • Material Selection and Compatibility
    • Equipment related to the gases and chemical industry
    • Experience in management of engineering staff.
    • Experience with gas or liquid containers, valves, vehicle fleets.
    • Experience with project management, budget control, performance analysis
  • Experience with regulatory codes and standards, including interpretation and application
  • Some international travel
