Senior Assistant

Your role:

Responsible for carrying out synthesis of a wide variety of organic molecules from gram scale to kilogram scale, ensure systematic documentation of observations in a research project and be responsible for deliveries on committed time lines.

1: Produce chemicals or run analytical tests following Company Policies.

  • Sets up equipment, produces chemicals (existing catalogue items, new products and analytical tests on produced chemicals. Clean production equipment or work areas.
  • Start up and shut down processing equipment and reactors, chillers and critical equipment.
  • Discusses with senior counterparts before making any changes to documented procedures.
  • Perform chemical operations in safe and effective manner.
  • Operate all lab equipment as per Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Monitor and control pressure and temperature, pH of chemical processes and equipment.
  • Handle, transport and process chemicals safely.
  • Monitors progress of reactions and interprets analytical data
  • Ensures quality specifications for final products are met.
  • Reviews inventory, schedules or demand and changes in priority of work as necessary.
  • Documents the actual results of all experiments/synthetic procedures/QC analyses
  • Collect hazardous or non-hazardous waste in correctly labeled barrels or other containers and transfer them to collection areas
  • Assist engineers in developing, building, or testing prototypes or new products, processes, or procedures.
  • Provide production, progress, or changeover reports to shift supervisors.
  • Set up and verify the functionality of safety equipment and help in install new equipment.
     

2: Strive for continuous improvement.

  • May be part of focused groups to improve department, site or company performance viz. safety, output, costs of products, inventory, quality etc.
  • Works on improving procedures to cut costs, reduce safety hazards, raise purity, or suggest changes to improve batch-to-batch consistency.
  • Develops or improves production/analytical processes.
  • Troubleshoot problems with equipment, devices and perform self-governing maintenance and preventive maintenance

3: Maintains equipment and laboratory and calibrate equipment as necessary.

  • Maintains all laboratory / analytical equipment
  • Troubleshoot problems with equipment, devices and perform self-governing maintenance and preventive maintenance
  • Calibrates analytical / production reaction equipment, vacuum pumps critical equipment and other test equipment as necessary.
  • Maintains a neat and orderly workplace and office.
  • Stocks supplies of common consumables, verifies inventories and orders fresh stocks as required.

 

4: Communicates results of lab work & maintains parameters as required in shift

  • Writes and records procedures and maintain data.
  • Documents results and observations per department guidelines (e.g., Lab Notebook, Project Files)
  • Communicates technical results to supervisors, customers and colleagues.
  • Maintains all parameters as required in a shift and records all observations during shift and handover to next shift person
  • Able to make effective presentation of work to team members
  • Deliver on new ideas
  • Identify kaizens and implement

 

 

5: Compliance to Integrated Management System

  • Understand and follow process & procedures laid down in IMS and quality manual.
  • Ensure compliance to health, safety, and environmental requirements

Who you are:

  • B.Tech (any field preferably manufacturing of Chemicals) from a reputed university or a pass-out from ITI with good academic background with knowledge experience in Chemical industry.
  • 2-5 Years of experience preferably in production set up in a good pharmaceutical or fine chemical unit.
  • Basic knowledge of organic chemistry, laboratory techniques, unit operations and laboratory skills. Ability to apply theoretical learning to practical problems.
  • Knowledge of experiment planning, design, execution and interpretation of results.
  • Working knowledge of analytical techniques specifically wet analysis and instrumental methods like GC, HPLC, auto-titration and IR.
  • Skills at problem solving and development of analytical techniques to suit production conditions.
  • Good Computational skills with word processing, spreadsheets and database management.
  • Skills in communicating results – both oral and written.
  • Ability to work in teams of competent QC and production personnel. Quest for continuous improvement in work processes.
  • Must be willing to gain a thorough understanding of department and company quality/operational policies and follows the policies.
