JOB TITLE:                                       Head of Distribution – ANZ


REPORTING TO:                             Head of Distribution - APAC


LOCATION:                                     Bayswater, Victoria Australia




Position Summary:


Reporting to the Head of Distribution – APAC, this position is responsible for warehousing and distribution for a broad portfolio of Life Science products across both Australia and New Zealand.  Leading a strong team of technical contributors, this position is responsible for managing multiple 3PL service providers.


The successful candidate will be a hands-on team player with high energy and work as a collaborative leader to achieve operational goals.  This person must be highly self-motivated, have an intense customer focus and be able to satisfy both internal and external customer requirements.


Position will be limited to a 12-month assignment.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Distribution:  Lead development and implementation of distribution and transportation policies; development of models, procedures, and processes for planning of distribution and transportation activities.
  • Budgeting:  Take responsibility for setting and managing area budgets so they align with organizational strategy
  • Improvement and Innovation:  Take responsibility for developing and delivering change management plans and achieving outcomes that support the organization's overall strategy.
  • Leadership:  Communicate the function's strategy and its relationship to the organization's mission, vision and values; clarify the actions needed to implement it within the area of responsibility; motivate people to commit to these and to doing extraordinary things to achieve the organization's business goals.
  • Performance Management:  Manage and report on the performance of distribution and logistics; set appropriate performance objectives for direct reports and hold them accountable for achieving these; take appropriate corrective action where necessary to ensure the achievement of annual business objectives
  • Stakeholder Engagement:  Identify and manage stakeholders up to top management level, finding out their needs/issues/concerns and reacting to these by leading and coordinating the development of stakeholder engagement plans to support the communication of business information and decisions.
  • Organizational Capability Building:  Identify the capabilities needed to meet the current and emerging business needs.  Evaluate current capabilities, identify gaps, and prioritize development activities. Motivate others to develop their capabilities and fulfill their personal potential. Build capabilities elsewhere in the organization through mentoring and other informal methods

Required Skills

  • Data Analysis:  Acts as the organizational authority and established expert on analyzing data trends for use in reports to help guide decision making.
  • EH&S:  Acts as the organizational authority and established expert on managing and applying safe systems of work
  • Risk Management:  Applies expertise to act as the organizational authority on identifying, assessing, prioritizing and managing risks in a production process.


Recommended Education/Work Experience:

  • Bachelors degree or higher
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience, preferably in a supply chain & distribution role
  • Proven track-record in managing and supervising others in logistics, including training and capacity building
  • Experience with frequent visibility and interaction with senior level managers
  • Strong understanding of biotech and pharmaceutical customer expectations of Life Science suppliers a plus
  • Strong knowledge of QMS, ISO and cGMP.
  • Experience in regulated industry (medical device, pharma, biotech) a plus.



  • Black Belt or Green Belt a plus.
  • PMP a plus.
  • CPM or CPIM a plus.
