Your Role: 

MilliporeSigma in Bedford, MA is seeking an Applications Engineer.  In collaboration with the Single Use and Integrated Systems Applications team, you will lead the planning and execution of bioprocessing applications studies to evaluate new products in a laboratory setting, analyzing data with timely interpretation and communication of results to the project team.

Responsibilities:  

  • Represent the bioprocessing end user by understanding process design targets and performance expectations, staying informed about competitive offerings and technology gaps, and proposing innovative solutions to meet these needs 
  • Collaborate on technical teams to enable successful product development and commercialization through the stages of concept definition, prototype evaluation, design confirmation, validation, and go-to-market   
  • Develop customer-facing materials such as application notes, webinars, and performance guides to demonstrate the value of new solutions in relevant process applications

 

This position may involve minimal travel

 

Who You Are:

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Biological Engineering or other Scientific or Engineering discipline with 2+ years of research or development experience

-OR-

  • Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Biological Engineering or other Scientific or Engineering discipline

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Direct product development or biomanufacturing process development experience 
  • Hands-on experience with protein purification steps including filtration, chromatography, viral inactivation, and/or fill & finish   
  • Familiarity with computational fluid dynamic (CFD) software for simulation modeling 
  • Experience delivering project results to meet milestones with excellent problem solving, teamwork, facilitation skills, and analytical mindset 
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively through written reports, oral presentations, and timely discussions 
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate resources and manage time across multiple projects
