Your Role:

We are excited to open a Bioprocess Applications Senior Engineer position within the Single Use and Integrated Systems R&D team within MilliporeSigma's Process Solutions business unit. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing innovative products for the processing and purification of biopharmaceutical and biotech product streams. This position will be based at our Bedford, MA campus. As a key member of our product development teams, you will thrive in a dynamic environment where your contributions will be valued.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring of colleagues in downstream bioprocessing, with a focus on next-generation processing, as well as the use of process automation to optimize downstream workflows. 
  • Communicate data and recommendations to both technical and non-technical colleagues.  Adapt communication of results for a senior business audience, both internal and customer-facing.
  • Manage project workstreams by communicating timelines and seeking alignment with cross-functional project partners.
  • Gather input and ideas from resources outside of R&D (such as our Manufacturing, Product Management, Commercial, Quality, and Procurement teams, industry contacts, or academia) to seek novel solutions & analytical methods.  Leverage these contacts to drive product concepts through development and validation to achieve successful commercialization.
  • Develop customer-facing collateral, including application notes, webinars, and performance guides, that effectively highlight the value of new solutions
  • Lead the planning and execution of bioprocessing application studies to assess new products in a laboratory environment, ensuring timely data analysis and effective communication of results to project teams, stakeholders, and sponsors
  • Articulate the bioprocessing end-user perspective by understanding process design targets, performance expectations, competitive offerings, and technology gaps; propose innovative solutions and actionable next steps to meet these objectives
  • Monitor the competitive landscape and application trends for assigned products, offering applications insights to the product development team to refine product design and align with market demands

 

Who You Are

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering or related disciplines, with 7+ years of experience in a related technical area or MS with 5+ years of experience or PhD with 4+ years of experience

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Direct biomanufacturing process development or product development experience – particularly at process-scale.
  • Deep experience with protein purification steps – particularly filtration steps (normal flow and tangential flow) and chromatography.  Experience with the application of PAT in downstream bioprocessing.
  • Thinks strategically, using a hunting mindset, to identify opportunities for Applications team capabilities to inform systems design, data packages, and launch materials.
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing and completion of complex projects, ensuring timely delivery of results while utilizing excellent problem-solving, teamwork, facilitation, and analytical skills.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to engage peers, customers, vendors, and stakeholders through clear written reports, impactful presentations, and timely discussions
  • Knowledge of product and process development activities, including design of experiments (DOE), FMEA, design for manufacturing, test method development, and qualification/validation
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate resources and manage time effectively across multiple projects

This role may also be eligible for short-term or long-term incentive compensation, including, but not limited to, cash bonuses.

Pay Range for this is $116,200 - $174,200
