Your Role:
We are seeking a dynamic and agile Engineer III to join the Focused Modalities Applications group within Process Solutions Product Development at MilliporeSigma in Bedford, MA. In this role, you will work within a matrixed team to deliver bioprocessing applications data that helps solve customer challenges and showcases the value of our commercial products for novel modality process optimization & manufacturing. Drawing on expertise in upstream bioreactor operations and bioprocess development, the successful candidate will plan, execute, and interpret laboratory, bench-, and pilot-scale bioreactor studies to evaluate new technologies and optimize processes for emerging modalities such as novel mAbs (bispecifics, multi-specifics) and cell and gene therapies. This position supports team growth by mentoring peers, synthesizing end-user requirements, and expanding capabilities to keep pace with state-of-the-art developments and thought leadership in novel bioprocessing. The successful candidate will have a passion for processdevelopment, strong cross-functional problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate with experts in downstreamprocessing and PAT development teams.
Who You Are:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other Life Science or Engineering Discipline and 7+ years of industry experience.
OR
- Master’s Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other Life Science or Engineering Discipline and 4+ years of industry experience.
OR
- PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other Life Science or Engineering Discipline and 2+ years of industry experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with planning and executing upstream unit operations including setup and operation of single use bioreactors across multiple scales.
- Strong expertise and hands-on experience in upstream bioprocessing for CHO based systems including novel mAb applications (bispecifics/multi-specifics); knowledge in cell and gene therapy applications a bonus.
- Proficient in optimizing and transferring mammalian bioprocesses from laboratory to large-scale production platforms using scale-up/scale-down approaches and technology transfer.
- Exposure to some of the following analytical techniques: Cell counting, metabolite analysis, protein quantification, glycan and charge variant analysis; flow cytometry, PCR, and ELISA experience.
- Skilled in statistical analysis, experimental design, and design of experiments (DoE) approaches.
- Experience leading small to medium size projects; demonstrated ability to deliver on timelines while balancing scientific rigor and customer urgency.
- Effectively communicates through written reports, oral presentations, application notes, poster presentations, and similar media.
- Familiarity with lab automation and GMP practices.
Pay Range for this position: $85,500 - $149,800 / year
The offer range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base pay compensation for this position. The actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level of experience, education, skills, and other job-related factors.
