Your role
As the Head of Process Solutions Strategy Development & Market Insights, you will join the Process Solutions (PS) Strategy and Business Operations Leadership Team. In this critical role, you will support the development and execution of strategic initiatives and market intelligence efforts that contribute to the success of our Process Solutions business. You will provide valuable insights and analytics to shape our strategies and drive informed decision-making across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
•    Support Strategic Direction: Assist in developing and articulating the strategic direction of the Process Solutions (PS) business while considering market context and performance metrics. Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including the PS, Life Science, and Merck Group teams.
•    Business Planning Contribution: Collaborate on the development and ownership of the business plan, contributing to the Strategy Development Process. Identify critical areas for growth, analyze problematic occurrences and provide data-driven recommendations to ensure profitable growth and development of our business.
•    Shape the External Narrative: Provide key analytics, guidance and insights to capital markets and investor relations for Life Science and Corporate groups. Anticipate future needs and identify opportunities.
•    Market Intelligence & Analytics: Gather and analyze market and customer data to identify trends, opportunities, and challenges across modalities, portfolios, technologies and geographies. Provide insights that influence business strategies and support decision-making processes.
•    Collaboration with Stakeholders: Work with senior Franchise, Functional and Commercial leaders to shape, size, and execute critical growth and profitability efforts. Foster strong relationships with other strategy teams across Franchises and Life Science (Discovery Solutions, Advanced Solutions, Life Science Strategy) to ensure alignment with the overall strategic direction of the broader organization.
•    Customer & Competitive Insights: Conduct primary and secondary market research to characterize market opportunities and understand customer needs. Use structured field feedback to guide strategy and investment decisions.
•    Process Definition & Governance: Assist in defining processes and governance structures to support strategy execution, partnering with Franchises and Operational Excellence teams. Contribute to the feedback loop for measuring progress against strategic plans and identifying trigger points for strategy adjustments.
•    Leadership of Diverse Teams: Lead and inspire high-impact, diverse teams, fostering an inclusive environment that encourages collaboration and innovation. Leverage team strengths to deliver impact and improve overall performance.

Qualifications:

  • Life Science experience required
  • Bachelors degree in scientific discipline required. M.Sc., PhD or MBA preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in strategy development, transformation, business operations within the Life Sciences or related sectors
  • Proven track record in leadership positions in a highly matrixed environment
  • Experience managing diverse direct and cross-functional teams and leading high-impact projects with executive visibility
  • Demonstrated ability to simultaneously lead multiple projects and manage multiple priorities 
  • Exceptional communicator who engages senior leaders and distills complex issues into clear, actionable insights
  • High tolerance for complexity, ambiguity, fast-paced, dynamic environments, and evolving business needs

Preferred qualifications:

  • 4+ years of management consulting experience (i.e. Bain, McKinsey, BCG, etc.)

Pay Range for this position: $231,000 - $346,600

The offer range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base pay compensation for this position. The actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level of experience, education, skills, and other job-related factors. Position may be eligible for sales or performance-based bonuses. Benefits offered by the Company include health insurance, paid time off (PTO), retirement contributions, and other perquisites.
