Salary Range: One hundred twenty-five thousand eight hundred nineteen dollars per year to one hundred forty-five thousand eight hundred nineteen dollars per year.

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

The Senior Opto-Mechanical Engineer will work to develop and support our Single Molecular Counting (SMC™) Immunoassay platforms. Specific duties include the following:

 

  1. Perform hands-on work as part of a product development team focused on instrumentation that helps scientists solve the toughest problems in life sciences;
  2. Be involved through all phases of the product lifecycle including concept, design, production, and commercialization;
  3. Design optical assembly devices, leveraging knowledge of solid modeling software such as SolidWorks and optical modeling software such as Zemax;
  4. Utilize experimental testing procedures and associated data analysis and statistics to ensure product reliability and efficiency;
  5. Work as part of a cross-functional collection of engineers, scientists, and project managers to design and implement revolutionary features for new and existing products; and
  6. Partner with critical suppliers and contract manufacturers.

 

Job Requirements:

 

Employer requires candidate to have a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field and five (5) years of progressively more responsible work experience as a Mechanical Engineer or closely related occupation working on designs in optics and embedded systems or instrument design.

 

Alternatively, employer will accept a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field and three (3) years of work experience as a Mechanical Engineer or closely related occupation working on designs in optics and embedded systems or instrument design.

 

Candidate must also have the following:

 

  1. Demonstrated knowledge of solid modeling software such as SOLIDWORKS gained through two (2) years of work experience;
  2. Demonstrated ability designing optical assembly devices (lens, confocal stops, and optical filters) gained through three (3) years of work experience;
  3. Demonstrated knowledge of optics component mounting, interfaces, filter coatings, and adhesive bonding gained through three (3) years of work experience;
  4. Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing techniques such as machining and 3D printing gained through three (3) years of work experience; and
  5. Demonstrated ability performing root cause analysis and developing mitigation strategies gained through three (3) years of work experience.

 

All years of experience may be gained concurrently.

 

5% of time will be spent on travel. Of this time, 95% is domestic travel and 5% is international travel.
