Scientist, Antibody Discovery

Your role: 

At EMD Serono we are seeking a Scientist to join the Antibody Technologies group within the Protein Engineering and Antibody Technologies department to support therapeutic antibody discovery. The candidate will design and execute animal immunization, high throughput transfection, and screening strategies for antibody generation and hit selection.  

  • Design and execute animal immunization; collect tissues for antibody discovery.
  • Perform high throughput transient transfection for antibody screening.
  • Perform multi-color flow cytometry analysis for cell binder screening and technology development.
  • Develop and optimize high throughput cellular function assays for functional hit identification.
  • Optimize protocols and propose solutions to improve efficiency of existing processes.
  • Evaluate new technologies, instrumentation, and assays to improve in-house platforms.
  • Analyze and present assay data in a clear and highly organized manner.

 

Who you are:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 3 plus years of experience or Master’s degree minimum requirement

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD in Immunology or Molecular Cellular Biology with 0-4 years of industry/postdoctoral experience, or Masters (related research field) with 5+ yeas of relevant industry experience.
  • 5+ year’s experience with multi-color flow cytometry
  • In-depth knowledge of rodent immune system and immunization
  • Direct experience and knowledge of designing and optimization of cellular assays. Experience with automation equipment is a plus.
  • Experience with PCR, molecular cloning, and transfection of mammalian cells, Western blot, ELISA.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Interpersonal skills essential for teamwork and to effectively work with colleagues
