Your Role: 

EMD Serono Research and Development Institute in Billerica, MA, is seeking a Senior Associate Scientist: CRISPR screening and target validation to join our Target Discovery Research group. In this role you will design, develop, and implement functional genomics experiments, including generating Cas9 expressing cell lines, optimizing screening conditions, producing lentivirus, executing pooled CRISPR screens, preparing samples for NGS and validating the gene hits identified in the primary screens and other projects. This laboratory-based position offers the opportunity for a talented scientist to work at the forefront of cancer research within a research-based drug discovery company. In this role, the candidate is expected to collaborate closely with partner lines to support target discovery with a strong focus on tumor and tumor immunology.

 

Who You Are: 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, or other Scientific discipline with 1+ years of hands on experience in CRISPR genome editing

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in molecular biology techniques, such as PCR, qRT-PCR, cloning, and western blotting
  • Experience with cell biology techniques, including cell line maintenance, transfection, selection of edited clones, and lentivirus preparation and transduction
  • Experience with FACS, sorting, and CRISPRa/i
  • Must have excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced dynamic environment
