Senior Manager, R&D Communications

Your Role:

This role focuses on Global R&D Communications, including various external and internal projects and strategic initiatives to drive the reputation of R&D across key stakeholders. The primary responsibility of this role is to support R&D leadership communications and local US R&D Communications, in addition to other strategic global R&D communications initiatives.

 

  • Oversee and support local R&D communications for US R&D hub (approx. 800 R&D employees) utilizing strategic communication content and channels to ensure broad awareness and visibility of R&D strategy, priorities and goals, as part of global R&D communications strategy.  
    • Responsibilities include local execution of external and internal R&D communications in collaboration with organiziation's Healthcare/Group Communications.
    • Lead site communications related to Billerica expansion together with US communications colleagues
    • Partner with R&D leadership members to advise on strategic communications concepts and content
    • This content should serve the purpose of engaging employees; building awareness of key initiatives; strengthening collaboration/reducing silos; informing employees as to key business updates; providing opportunities for connections across the employee base; and aligning the R&D business within the organization's Healthcare context. 
  • Build and own relationships with local Boston-based trade media for a steady pulse of newsflow from the company, including leveraging local milestones – site expansions, thought leadership opportunities, etc.
  • Lead social media for R&D, including creation of “evergreen” content that can be posted at anytime, to further build innovation reputation of R&D. Lead social editorial calendar for R&D, that ensures quality and consistency of messaging. Partner with Digital team to post content across appropriate channels.
  • Contribute to Global R&D Communications strategy in collaboration with Global Healthcare Communications.
  • Manage operational inquiries/requests for R&D on an ongoing basis (branding, approvals, content review and distribution, etc.)
  • Collaborate across CM to strengthen overall visibility of the organization as the leading Science and Technology company.
  • Manage local vendors as appropriate, including photographers, production cos., printers, designers, etc.

 

 

Who You Are:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 4 year undergraduate degree in Communications related field required
  • 5-7 years communications experience within a biotech or healthcare-related company

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • Team-orientation
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Powerpoint, Excel
  • Fluent in English and German, both verbal and written
