EMD Electronics is a leading innovator in the semiconductor materials industry specializing in Photoresist and BARC (Bottom Anti-Reflective Coating) manufacturing. Our products play a crucial role in the microfabrication processes that enable advanced semiconductor devices. We blend and formulate complex raw materials to create solutions that meet stringent quality and performance standards.

 

Your Role:

Our Branchburg NJ location is seeking a Process Excellence Engineer with a focus on ensuring product quality and process stability.   The Process Excellence Engineer will perform process engineering related tasks with focus on photoresist and BARC production. You will drive batch-to-batch consistency, optimize production methods, and implement data-driven process control strategies to ensure the highest quality standards are met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Product Consistency and Quality Assurance:
    • Oversee incoming material quality, in-process monitoring, and final product testing to ensure high batch-to-batch consistency
  • Process Optimization:
    • Continuously identify opportunities to improve mixing, filtration, and formulation processes to enhance product quality, reduce cycle times, and increase efficiency
  • Statistical Process Control:
    • Monitor SPC charts to track key process parameters and lead investigations into variations to ensure products meet industry specifications
  • Root Cause Analysis and Problem Solving:
    • Utilize tools such as FMEA and Control Plans to proactively address potential issues and implement corrective actions when deviations occur
  • Customer Inquiries:
    • Act as the product expert for responsible product lines, support customer inquiries and investigating requests or complaints related to product performance
  • Change Control Management:
    • Implement and manage change control processes to track and document changes related to process improvements, ensuring all modifications are properly reviewed and validated
  • Collaboration with Digitalization Team:
    • Work closely with the digitalization team to improve process insights through data integration, using tools such as Palantir Foundry, Python, and SQL for advanced analysis
  • Technology Transfer and Scale-Up:
    • Participate in the scaling of production processes from pilot to full-scale manufacturing, ensuring robust methods are in place for consistent product quality

 

Who You Are:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or other Science or Engineering field
  • 2+ years of experience with engineering in a manufacturing environment

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Chemical Engineering
  • 2+ years of experience in a process engineering role
  • Proficiency in mixing, filtration, and handling solvent-based systems
  • A solid working knowledge of chemistry with the ability to understand the influence of raw materials on product performance
  • Experience handling data in Excel
  • Strong analytical skills with a track record of solving complex process problems and improving production method.
  • Semiconductor or chemical manufacturing experience
  • Strong experience with SPC, FMEA, DoE, and quality control methodologies
  • Experience with SAP and Palantir Foundry; knowledge of Python or SQL to support process analytics
