Telecommuting: Telecommuting is an option but candidate must live in the Breinigsville, PA area in order to be in-office at least 3 days per week.

 

Travel: Up to 30% of time spent on travel; 15% domestic travel; 15% international.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  1. Design, develop and implement SCADA, PLC, HMI and database programs from scratch for complex industrial automation systems, utilizing platforms such as Ignition, Rockell Automation, Omron, Siemens, GE-Emerson, Automation Direct, and others;
  2. Adopt best practices to create efficient, modular and maintainable PLC, HMI and DCS code using python, structured text, ladder logic or function block diagrams based on system requirements;
  3. Diagnose and resolve complex issues with automation and SCADA systems as and when required;
  4. Develop control logic, proper I/O mapping, and communication protocols (e.g. Modbus, Ethernet/IP, Profibus) while integrating third-party devices, sensors, and actuators into automation systems;
  5. Oversee the integration of PLC and SCADA systems, as well as legacy AP controllers, with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) ensuring seamless communication between field devices and higher-level control systems;
  6. Implement cybersecurity best practices in control and SCADA systems to safeguard against potential threats. Create, configure, and manage virtual machines (VMs) as needed to support system development, testing, and deployment while ensuring secure and isolated environments;
  7. Design and develop electrical systems, schematics and layouts using CAD software such as AutoCAD. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations for electrical systems, components, and installations also ensure designs adhere to relevant safety codes, such as IEC, NEC, and CSA;
  8. Manage automation projects, including cost estimation, scheduling and resource allocation. Collaborate with multidisciplinary design, functional descriptions, and operator manuals;
  9. Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests 9FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT). Lead commissioning activities, including loop checks, I/O validation, and on-site troubleshooting. Travel as a field service expert to provide technical support across various client sites, addressing complex issues across multiple product lines;
  10.  Engage in process improvement initiatives, new product introductions, and manage engineering changes through ECR, PCN, and MOC processes;
  11. Evaluate emerging technologies (e.g. IoT, edge computing and AI) for potential integration into systems. Implement predictive maintenance solutions and data analytics for improved operations;
  12. Upgrade legacy systems to modern platforms while minimizing operational disruption;
  13. Mentor junior engineers and technicians, providing knowledge transfer and skill development;
  14. Develop and implement best practices for documentation, coding and system deployment; and
  15. Represent the organization at client meetings, trade shows and technical workshops.

 

Requirements & Qualifications:

 

Employer requires candidate to have a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field and five (5) years of progressively more responsible experience as an Electrical Engineer or closely related occupation.  Candidate must also have the following:

  1. Demonstrated knowledge of PLC configuration and programming gained through five (5) years of work experience;
  2. Demonstrated ability with SCADA/HMI development and integration and demonstrated programming proficiency gained through five (5) years of work experience.;
  3. Demonstrated knowledge of troubleshooting and maintenance for HMI, PLC, and SCADA hardware and software gained through five (5) years of work experience;
  4. Demonstrated ability leading a team gained through two (2) years of work experience;
  5. Demonstrated knowledge of developing and deploying control systems for complex automated manufacturing equipment gained through five (5) years of work experience; and
  6. Demonstrated knowledge of SCADA, cybersecurity, and virtualization gained through five (5) years of work experience.

 

All years of experience may be gained concurrently.
