Director Global Business Development

MilliporeSigma is looking for a senior business development professional to build out its $9B+ Life Science business inorganically. As the Director, Global Business Development, you will assist in growing the Life Science business through strategically attractive acquisitions that can deliver strong returns on capital. You will serve as project leader in building out markets and target company intelligence, build-out the M&A funnel through strategic gap analysis and adjacent market work, and cultivate M&A and strategic partner targets. You will partner with the Head, Global Business Development in developing overall direction for and executing on Life Science sector inorganic growth strategy across bolt-on and transformative M&A opportunities
 
Your Role:
  • Lead business development activities across Life Science sector, including bolt-on M&A, divestiture, strategic partnership and licensing.
  • Lead and coordinate stakeholder involvement to build M&A funnel and deal business cases through strategic gap analysis and adjacent market work
  • Lead and coordinate strategic partnership and licensing for selected assets globally
  • Build an M&A funnel through strategic gap analysis and adjacent market work
  • Cultivate mid- near- and long-term target relationships
  •  
  • Become the expert on adjacent and non-adjacent spaces through primary, proprietary market / pre-diligence work
  • Partner with internal cross-functional teams on deal diligence, valuation, negotiation and execution
  • Maintain high-quality professional network; represent company at key events (e.g. JP Morgan, BIO)
  • Nonpolitical in all dealings with agendas that are above board and understood by all
 
Who You Are:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • BS with 10+ years of professional experience
  • Exposure to Healthcare/Life Sciences via roles in business development, corporate development, M&A, consulting, and / or business strategy
  • Track record of assessing/valuating markets, cultivation, M&A deals and integration
  • Understanding of advanced financial and valuation concepts
  • Hands-on business development experience across the deal value chain
  • Ability to work in fast-paced global business environment; cultural adaptability; high energy and motivation
  • Advanced understanding of Financial concepts & valuation techniques
  • 5+ years evaluating the market attractiveness and strategic fit of new business, markets and domains
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree in Scientific / Business discipline; Ph.D. 
  • German and/or Mandarin 
  • Understanding of deal continuum
