Your Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to be the financial advisor of the Biology Leadership Team. As a Senior Finance Analyst, you will report to the Head of Controlling – SLS Biology. In your role, you will provide financial decision support on various operational and strategic matters impacting the achievement of business objectives. Biology is a key business unit within Science and Lab Solutions, a 5.0B EUR division of MilliporeSigma Life Science. You will manage critical processes, financial reporting, and decision-making for the Marketing and R&D organizations. Managing the fully allocated Biology P&L is also part of your scope. Your responsibilities include preparing and analyzing monthly financial results, forecasts, operating plans, strategy development, portfolio management, and complex business case development. You will be required to leverage digital reporting and visualization solutions to enhance business insights (TM1, Tableau, Excel, SAP, and others).

 

Among your responsibilities will be to:

  • Support the 4 Biology Franchise Heads, Product Marketing Ops, Strategic & Technical Marketing and Head of R&D.
  • Work closely with the R&D SLS controller who centralized all SLS R&D support.
  • Provide regular and ad hoc support to the biology team on multiple financials areas: sales, trade margin, P&L, cash flow, inventories, headcounts.
  • Support the business by providing detailed insights on business performance into spending, capital, vitality index, productivity, profitability, and all financial KPIs that support achieving strategic and operational objectives.
  • Provides transparency into business drivers, risks, and opportunities.
  • Supports business decision-making on a wide variety of operational matters through fact-based analyses.
  • Leverage digital solutions and financial dashboards to monitor and track financial targets.
  • Support business in capital requests/projects, Strategy development (SD process), investment analysis (ROI, NPV, IRR).
  • Prepare and present business update presentations to senior management.
  • Provide regular sales forecast to the Biology Leadership Team and align assumptions with SLS Commercial Controlling.
  • Preparation of rolling Forecast for spending, capital, allocations, new product sales, and headcount.
  • Reviews business forecast inputs for accuracy and reasonableness.
  • Streamline the rolling forecast process for efficiency.
  • Maintain forecast accuracy to ensure achievement of targets and planning of resources.
  • Provide timely monthly management reporting, including spending and project status commentaries comparing actuals versus forecast/prior year/plan.
  • Responsible for highlighting areas of business drivers/concerns to the business partner.
  • Ad hoc reporting and projects as required. 
  • Develops and documents standard financial processes, focusing on implementing common financial procedures and practices regionally and globally; improves the efficiency of the Controlling function.
  • Interacts with all other departments and CFO while ensuring that Accounting & Controlling best practice knowledge is being leveraged across MilliporeSigma.
  • Maintains the appropriate internal financial controls in all aspects of the business unit to ensure that financial statements are free from material error.
  • Ensures the consistent implementation of MilliporeSigma's accounting policies, with attention to areas requiring judgment and estimation.

 

This will be hybrid role and candidates should live within a reasonable commute to the office located in Burlington, MA. 

 

Who you are:

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance with 3+ years of relevant accounting and controlling experience.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Accounting/Finance with 5+ years of relevant accounting and controlling experience supporting R&D and Marketing organizations.
  • A strong understanding and applying financial principles, practices, and standards, in a complex environment: matrix organizations, wide ERP landscape, worldwide scope of legal entities.
