Strategic Account Executive

Your Role:

The Strategic Account Executive (SAE) serves as the primary point of contact for the lead decision makers (Economical buying influencers) of select strategic university and hospital accounts for our products and services. Cultivating these interactions to build relationships is important to generate sales and close deals. The SAE will use insights and deep customer knowledge to shape joint priorities and influence solutions. The SAE must coordinate with MilliporeSigma customer support functions and with the Account Management team, who partner with our customers’ scientists and lab managers, to help our customers meet their objectives and maximize MilliporeSigma business opportunities.

 

The role of the SAE is therefore expected to utilize the available tools and resources to track and report sales activity and share account knowledge, exceed sales targets on a quarterly and annual basis, ensuring a sustainable, profitable and plannable growth. The SAE must create scenarios for win-win situations both for MilliporeSigma and our customers for the assigned accounts. This includes understanding our customer’s structure and buying processes, and negotiating pricing and more favorable terms, and competitive positioning. The SAE has a complete understanding of broad business solutions offerings.

 

The SAE is responsible for the maintenance and growth of products in the transactional business as well as negotiating larger opportunities and competitive conversions with the account’s procurement department. You will be responsible for account pricing and freight terms, and managing the formal contract process including annual renewals. Target customers will include Procurement and e-business functions and any other customer role involved in high level strategic negotiations.

 

Upon business approval, travel up to 40-50%

 

Who You Are:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in a Life Sciences or Business
  • 3+ years experience selling and negotiating in an academic environment
  • Strong negotiation skills and contract implementation in complex environments
  • Understanding of Account management including strategy, planning, customer segmentation, procurement, B2B, and customer buying journey
  • Ability to produce and interpret sales data in various formats and use digital tools (e.g. Salesforce.com, Tableau, Vendavo, MS PowerPoint)
  • Understanding of competitive and market dynamics in the University and Government segments
  • Understand the roles and responsibilities of customer stakeholders and establish trusting relationships

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Able to work autonomously and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Self-motivated, able to prioritize, strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
