Your Role:

The BioMonitoring business of MilliporeSigma is seeking a Technical Service Specialist to support the microbiology quality control field, with a strong focus on the pharmaceutical, biotech, food, beverage, and other regulated microbiological testing markets.  BioMonitoring is focused on supporting microbiology needs, particularly focused in regulated markets, such as pharma/biotech, food suppliers, manufacturing, processing facilities, testing laboratories, beverage manufacturers, pharmacy/hospital microbiology labs, and drinking water. 

Responsibilities:

  • Engage with customers digitally through virtual meetings, voice and video calls, website chat functions, and email inquiries
  • Understand various microbiological workflows, including but not limited to sterility testing, pathogen testing, bioburden, environmental monitoring, and rapid microbial technologies
  • Work collaboratively with customer quality assurance and quality control groups, utilizing internal partners such as Product Management, Commercial Sales, Field Marketing, Technology Specialists, and Global Product Quality teams at various manufacturing sites, as necessary to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction

 

This role will include travel (domestic and international) of less than 15%.  This is a hybrid role with office days in Burlington, MA.

 

Who You Are:
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biology, Quality/Regulatory or other Science/STEM field
  • 1+ years of industry lab experience

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of microbiology lab experience
  • Experience utilizing Salesforce and ability to work with additional internal digital tools
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including but not limited to Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams
  • Proficiency in technical writing, with the ability to create and summarize scientific studies and investigations
  • Familiarity with AOAC, food safety regulations, hygiene monitoring, EPA guidelines, and relevant microbiological United States Pharmacopeia chapters, with emphasis in quality control 
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a matrixed organization inspiring teamwork to achieve results
  • Skilled in supporting customers in offering remote (email, phone, online) technical assistance in an organized and timely manner
  • Skilled in addressing customer concerns and determining corrective actions
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and sound judgment to prioritize issues or gaps in day-to-day activities, such as troubleshooting
  • Skilled in achieving technical competency, product knowledge, understanding of workflow, and competitive landscape
  • Experience as a Scientist, Microbiologist or Molecular Biologist, with a knowledge and understanding of microbiology quality control
  • Digitally savvy with strong communication skills
