Salary: $145,205 to $165,205 per year

Job Responsibilities:

 

The Controls Project Engineer will be responsible for the following:

 

  1. Troubleshoot and maintain 480VAC, 110VAC, and 24VDC systems, build control panels, and perform live electrical work;
  2. Develop and implement RION liquid particle sampling systems for hazardous chemistries, including layout design, process optimization, calibration, data generation and troubleshooting;
  3. Act as the Technical Lead in chemical production CapEx projects which consists of: developing the controls and process scope, defining the budget and schedule and securing CapEx funding, consulting in Hazard Reviews, interfacing with construction/contractor teams, and leading commissioning and start-up efforts. Will provide training and sustaining plan for the life of the project. Must ensure that the digital roadmap for Batch Automation is being followed for all new capital projects;
  4. Own responsibility for our controls platforms and ensure they meet Safety and Cyber Security requirements;
  5. Ensure we sustain a 24/7 operation within our manufacturing facility and assist the Operations Team resolve issues concerning product quality, reliability, and operability. Note that this is an on-site position only (not remote) and must be on-call to support production issues as they arise;
  6. Establish specifications for controls and instrumentation hardware;
  7. Program, configure, and commission the Process Automation System (PAS) and Programmable Electronic Safety System (PES);
  8. Commission, validate, and start up the control systems within our manufacturing facility;
  9. Develop and implement life cycle management strategies to ensure controls platforms continue to meet evolving safety, cybersecurity, quality, and production demands as well as follow corporate standards and relevant codes and laws; and
  10. Provide mentorship in professionally developing engineers and act as a technical resource for the team.

 

Job Requirements:

 

Employer requires a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, automation engineering, chemical engineering, control systems, or a closely related field and six (6) years of progressively

more responsible work experience as a Controls Engineer or related occupation performing plant automation programming (PLC) and systems integration in an industrial manufacturing

environment. In addition, employer requires:

 

  1. Demonstrated ability creating plant automation programming (DCS/PLC/SCADA) and designing HMI for both the Allen Bradley platform and the Siemens TIA portal platform gained through six (6) years of work experience;
  2. Demonstrated ability designing Control Panels, electrical wiring schematics for electrically classified areas, control loop drawings, and panel layouts using AutoCAD gained through six (6) years of work experience;
  3. Demonstrated ability performing hands-on work in an industrial chemical manufacturing environment, including leading project and maintenance teams to design, troubleshoot, and optimize process operations involving chemicals that are toxic, reactive, pyrophoric, corrosive and/or oxidizers gained through two (2) years of work experience;
  4. Demonstrated ability tuning PID and cascade loops of distillation columns gained through two (2) years of work experience;
  5. Demonstrated ability performing plant optimization and working with change management processes, Life Safety Systems, and servo controllers (Motion Architect) gained through two (2) years of work experience; and
  6. Demonstrated ability designing and implementing process control system upgrades on aging systems by incorporating modern instrumentation, addressing ultra-high purity requirements, understanding limitations of moisture and air-sensitive fluids, and maintaining regulatory and safety compliance in electrically classified areas gained through two (2) years of work experience.

 

All years of experience may be gained concurrently.
