Purchasing Specialist I

Your Role: 

 

Reporting to the site’s “Purchasing Manager” your position responsibilities will include adjusting delivery schedules for key materials, scheduling work for operations, and/or responding to organizational requests on the availability of products. You will keep the delivery dates in MRP always up to date. Expediting orders whenever possible. This position will be responsible for negotiating, placing, and managing GMP and Non-GMP purchase orders for the site. 

 

  • Evaluate current and future customer/field sales demands via Planning to Production/Purchasing using current systems -example: Microsoft Dynamics (Great Plains) SAP, mainframe, etc and by telephone, e-mail as necessary
  • Prepare, maintain and manage BOMs  
  • Manage inventory reports and expedite/de-expedite materials based on supply chain and customer priorities by working and calling internal vendors directly
  • Track replenishment orders from shipping to the warehouse.  Communicate delivery information to appropriate parties, and determine if/when a material reservation is required to meet the customer’s shipping schedule
  • Develop operational schedules to meet customer service objectives and support service and inventory goals
  • Customized order processing which includes but is not limited to confirming customer packaging configurations, confirming customer specifications using change control data to ensure customer expectations are met, offering alternate products and configurations when requested product is not available, etc.
  • Develop solutions for customer inquiries, problem solves to meet or exceed customer expectations.  Quickly identify root cause and corrective actions to minimize manufacturing impact. Investigate and resolve the inquiry with the appropriate functional areas
  • Constantly in touch with the Warehouse Supervisor to ensure that there is enough storage capacity available for incoming goods
  • Ensure that Corporate Sourcing’s national procurement rules are followed on site

 

Who You Are:

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • High School Diploma, GED or HSED
  • 2+ years of experience in supply chain, purchasing or planning/scheduling
  • 2+ years of experience in moving material through the product delivery cycle
  • Experience with a PC, and data analysis

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Qualification in Supply Chain Management, APICS or similar field
  • Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Access Lotus Notes, etc.)
  • GMP/ISO standards (in relation to preparing documents)
  • Experience in working in the Biologics or Pharma industry
  • Capable of performing multiple tasks simultaneously while prioritizing the changing demands; demonstrate a high sense of urgency
  • Accustomed to working independently and meet deadlines
  • Professional communication skills
