Your Role:
This role is a product development scientist for the global silica business reporting to the Silica R&D Director. This scientist must work well in a multi-disciplinary team environment and develop good working relationships both internally and externally. This role is part of a collaboration team that works to create novel customer focused solutions. Creating solutions involves ideation, design, testing, scaling, and introduction. Solutions span from new materials and technologies to improvement of existing products.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead development of new products for defined customer targets.
- Collaborate with development partners to solve problems and improve the product development cycle and capabilities.
- Use data, product design, and statistical tools to speed up development cycles.
Location: Charlotte, NC, USA; onsite
Travel: <10%, Domestic and International
Who You Are:
Minimum qualifications:
- Ph.D. in science, preferably in chemical engineering, chemistry, or related colloidal, nanoparticle, or particle science field,
- Minimum 5 years of experience in colloidal silica or related silica chemistry (industrial or post-doctoral)
Preferred qualifications:
- Project leadership skills and experience.
- Knowledge of and related experience in:
- Nanoparticle fundamentals including stability, surface modification, and interactions with additives,
- Silica nanoparticle production including synthesis using silicates and orthosilicates, filtration, and characterization,
- Chemical mechanical planarization (CMP) applications and requirements,
- Statistical techniques for advanced design and development, and
- Stage gate processes and project management.
- Ability to perform laboratory work and interface with engineering concepts and personnel.
