EHS-S Coordinator

Your Role:

This role is responsible to observe all EHS issues in the area of his duty. The EHS Coordinator inspects and evaluates the environment, equipment and processes in working areas to ensure compliance with government safety regulations and industry standards. Their chief goal is to protect the employees, customers and the environment.

  • Has to counsel and support local management in all EHS matters
  • Keeps track and informs management on corporate values, intentions and visions given by Corporate EHS (EQ-E) in conformity with applicable local legislation.
  • Supports local site management in the implementation of EHS Group Policies and Standards and reviews the status of implementation and applicability, regularly.
  • Introduces and coordinates the implementation of corporate EHS programs and projects on site.
  • Has to ensure EHS training is provided to all employees as per their specific requirements and in accordance with the specific hazards and risks associated with different work activities.
  • Bears the responsibility for overseeing the appropriate implementation of EHS measures/activities and highlights any non-conformances thereof to site management in writing.
  • Has to report any non-conformances that he/she becomes aware of, to the delegating management and in serious cases (e.g. significant regulatory non-compliances, situations posing an imminent threat to health and wellbeing of employees, etc.) to Corporate EHS.

Major Accountabilities:

EHS:

  • To work towards continuous EHS improvement on site
  • To provide up to date information on pertinent EHS requirements and regulations to local management and make recommendations for actions to be taken so that full compliance can be achieved.
  • To propose, support and drive sustainability initiatives on site.
  • To ensure all regulations, laws, supplementary regulations and official conditions stipulated in the approval licenses are explained to site management and all necessary activities to achieve full compliance are executed as per agreement with the site director.
  • To establish EHS programs according to EHS corporate and site goals.
  • To foster an ongoing development and improvement of plant technology and industrial procedures in terms of environmental protection and safety on the basis of new findings and technological progress.
  • To assess risks and hazards to employees, the public and the environment and plan and recommend appropriate operational controls to site management.
  • To document, evaluate and investigate accidents, incidents, occupational illnesses, near-miss incidents and hazardous conditions and plan appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
  • To provide EHS training to all employees as per their specific requirements and in accordance with the specific hazards and risks associated with different work activities.
  • To comply with group wide reporting systems.
  • To prepare and (partially) conduct internal audits and inspections (e.g. EHS, ISO 14001, etc.), establish corrective action plans for all identified findings and track all open items to closure.
  • To actively work towards a common EHS Group Culture

 

Security:

  • Responsible to identify general and specific local or domestic security risks, to establish and maintain security on a site and to resolve local security-related incidents.
  • Responsible to implement and enforce security related standards / procedures provided by Corporate Security and to achieve full compliance with regard to governmental legislation.
  • In charge of local security resources (internal staff / security personnel from third parties).
  • Key task is to cluster security relevant information on country level and to liaise closely with local business heads as well as with national authorities / agencies.

 

Who you are:

  • Bachelor degree in Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Engineer, or related fields
  • Occupational Health Certification.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in Environmental Health and Safety role.
  • Good leadership skills and ability to mentor and motivate
  • Works well under pressure, effectively handles conflict, strict deadlines and multiple tasks
  • Good level of English
