Compliance Specialist

Your role:
A great opportunity has opened up within our compliance department. We are looking for our next compliance specialist to be based either in our KSA or Dubai office and will mainly be responsible for Saudi Arabia plus supporting the team in other GCC countries. This role will be reporting directly to the Head of Legal & Compliance, Middle East & Egypt Region.
As a member of a very well-established Compliance Department in the Middle East region, You will be responsible for Compliance operations of the GCC Region. You will ensure full implementation of Merck Compliance Program, Pharma Compliance Policies, and Corporate Compliance Management in the countries of the GCC for all Merck divisions.

You will provide guidance on Pharma Policies to the Business and appropriate use of the company’s Compliance Electronic Approval System and shall be directly responsible for the SFDA disclosure process. You will also coordinate compliance training initiatives and ensure best practice and understanding of the compliance policies by Commercial and Medical teams. And you should be comfortable with electronic systems and have good communication skills to serve this purpose.
As a Compliance Specialist you will establish a close collaboration with the Head of Legal & Compliance in the Middle East to act as an independent and objective body that reviews and evaluates compliance issues/concerns by providing information and support to the business teams. As well as to drive and enhance compliance culture of the region

Part of your responsibilities will be to strength elements of the compliance infrastructure by implementing/improving systems, procedures and initiatives in line with Company’s regional and global strategies. To work closely with regional and local functions and organizations to support regional growth strategy in emerging markets with a business oriented and compliant sound approach. And to proactively support and drive needed monitoring and control systems, compliance reviews and process changes in GCC. 
In addition you will conduct new employee compliance training and on-boarding. Responsible for on line trainings, their follow ups and reporting’s and Maintain Compliance records, both electronic and hard copies, centrally – including policy approvals, due diligence, record keeping, training logs and other records key to evidencing a suitable compliance program.

In close collaboration with the Compliance Head, you will ensure quarterly reporting’s to Regional MEA Compliance on the key performance indicators and deliverables of the Compliance Department, and support him in managing compliance initiatives of Merck Group & providing support in local/regional implementation of Group Compliance initiatives.
Finally you will be responsible for building and maintaining effective working relationships with internal clients, including ability to consult with in-house & external legal staff as necessary to address legal compliance issues and support regional and local functions in audits and ongoing internal monitoring processes.


Who you are:
•            1 to 3 years of legal working experience within private practice or as an inhouse counsel. Compliance background within healthcare field shall also be considered.
•             Strong project management and prioritization skills with process focus, ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and setting priorities with a strong compliance sound and business-oriented approach.
•             Strong interpersonal and team work skills are required. Good communication, change management and adaptation skills are needed. 
•             Strong problem solving, facilitation and management skills in interacting with various business profiles is an essential part of the role.
•             Ability to work in a highly matrix and diverse business environment with multiple internal and external stakeholders in a timely manner.
•             Adaptable/Flexible: Be open to change in response to new information, different or unexpected circumstances, and/or to work in ambiguous situations.
•             Strong presentation and PC skills including Microsoft Offices applications (i.e.: Word, Excel, PowerPoint). 
•             Expected travel is around 30-40% of the time to the different sites for projects and trainings.
