Associate Director, Field Medical, Endocrinology (HIV)

Your role:

The Associate Medical Director, US Medical Affairs has responsibility for providing internal expertise in this area, as well as cultivating and maintaining collaborative relationships through clinically/scientifically-focused interactions with key opinion leaders and community healthcare providers (HCPs) and will drive creation and assist execution of aligned HIV-associated Wasting/Endocrinology objectives, strategies and tactical plans for Medical Affairs.  This will entail working in close collaboration with Medical Affairs colleagues and cross-functional partners.  In addition, this individual will serve as primary Medical reviewer for HIV-associated promotional materials. Maintain relevant clinical/scientific knowledge of HIV-associated wasting and growth hormone to ensure identification of emerging trends and insights.  This includes staying abreast of the clinical literature and attending key conferences. Develop and maintain ongoing clinical/scientific relationships with US KOLs and Community HCPs to build awareness of HIV associated wasting disease state and treatment options, as well as our company’s scientific leadership in the field. Work closely with TA Head, Field Medical Director (HIV), and other functions within US Medical Affairs and outside USMA as appropriate to gather insights, set appropriate objectives and strategies, implement tactics, and ensure delivery of outcomes for US Medical Affairs function in HIV/Endocrinology. Drive Medical plan development and execution for HIV/Endocrinology. Represent Medical in cross-functional HIV-associated wasting conversations as well as updates to Senior Leaders. Serve as primary HIV-associated wasting/Endocrinology medical reviewer in Promotional, Scientific and Medical Review of promotional materials. Collaborate with other therapeutic areas to leverage US Medical Affairs HIV/endocrinology expertise and programs as appropriate. Spend as much as 50% of time in face-to-face KOL and community HCP engagements and/or virtual webinars that reach external stakeholders. Educate internal and external colleagues on EMD Serono’s related pipeline, data, and scientific interests. Serve as an internal and external expert for the therapeutic area and product(s) at meetings, advisory boards and congresses.

Who you are: 

• Advanced degree: Requires advanced degree including MS, PA, PhD, PharmD, MD with significant knowledge of and experience in endocrinology (growth hormone) and/or HIV and HIV-associated wasting.
• Minimum three to five years of successful pharma (preferably Medical Affairs) experience
• Understand the clinical development and post-marketing environment for pharmaceuticals, including post-marketing clinical studies and solid experience developing strategic and tactical medical affairs plans
• Fully understand the competitive landscape for the therapeutic area
• Excellent time-management, proactive cross-functional collaboration, communication, and presentation skills
• Demonstrated ability to create and motivate diverse, cross-functional, and productive teams
• Agility in changing scientific, clinical, and competitive environments
• Credibility with internal and external stakeholders
• Experience creating successful plans and reports for which outcomes can be measured and evaluated
• Strong budget management knowledge and experience
• Normal and routine office duties
• Able to travel up to 50% (mostly domestic)
