Strategy Manager: R&D and Emerging Technologies

Your Role:
Based around the Glasgow/Stirling area (or remote), you will have responsibility for R&D and emerging technologies strategy within the services business. You will collaborate with the R&D and Development Services teams to develop, and annually refine, the 10-year R&D roadmap, with responsibility for driving ideation sessions, coordinating KOL and other advisory boards, developing a deep understanding of evolving market trends through VoC and other primary and secondary research, and prioritizing opportunities through rigorous market sizing and execution-related criteria. You will collaborate with product management to operationalize prioritized opportunities through our StageGate process and assist in defining the positioning of complementary technologies. By compiling and maintaining a diligence database of inorganic opportunities for emerging technology acquisition and licensing, you will assist in our annual strategy development process to shape, evolve, and fund the 10-year strategy for the services business. You will report into the head of strategy for the Services business.
Who you are:
Minimum requirements:
- BS degree in Life or Physical Sciences with extensive experience
- Masters and/or Ph.D. degree in Life or Physical Sciences with proven working experience
- Significant business strategy, marketing, product management, and/or consulting experience in Life Sciences, Pharma, or Biotech industry
- Travel (including international travel) up to 35%
Additional requirements:
- Strong analytics skills including experience working with and manipulating large amounts of data in Excel.
- Ability to think creatively, approach work with an entrepreneurial mindset, and take the initiative despite minimal day-to-day oversight; advocate for adopting innovative approaches and ideas.
- Ability to work with and engage across management team and various functions within the organization; willing to constructively contribute to and debate key issues affecting the organization across multiple areas.
- Comfortable working in a fast paced, energetic environment and in ambiguous/rapidly evolving situations.
- Ability to see the current and future business within a broader context and quickly synthesize implications and opportunities for the business to both internal and external audiences.
- Ability to communicate both orally and in writing to internal and external audiences, including to the leadership team, to foster collaboration, drive alignment, and achieve results.
- Ability to think critically and analytically about all business problems.
- Knowledge of biopharmaceutical manufacturing (preferred); credibility in discussing current and future trends in the industry in front of customers and internal stakeholders.
