Senior Manager/Associate Director, China Innovation Hub

SENIOR MANAGER /ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR, INNOVATION HUB CHINA

Who you are:

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the collaborations and operations of Our Company Innovation Hub in Guangdong. Work closely with the colleagues of Innovation Hub in Shanghai and other innovation units locally and globally.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key opinion leaders, scientists, innovators, entrepreneurs in both academic and business settings, as well as the network of government institutes and high-tech parks, venture capitals and incubators esp. in Southern China.
  • Scout for new opportunities between and beyond the Healthcare, and Life Sciences, and Performance Materials sectors, and novel technologies that deals with China specific challenges, esp. in Greater Bay area
  • Identify opportunities for new open innovation partnerships and secure successful execution of partnerships in Greater Bay area, in close alignment with the Performance Materials, Healthcare, and Life Science sectors and global Strategy & Transformation.
  • Conduct ideation, inception and incubation activities as needed, together with Innovation Hub Shanghai and/or sector colleagues in the Guangdong innovation hub. Manage the daily operations of the Guangdong innovation hub.
  • Work closely with company Sectors and global Strategy & Transformation on the sourcing evaluation, and execution of external agreements for partnerships and technology in licensing.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the company’s competitive landscape in Material Science, Life Science, and Biopharmaceuticals.
  • Work closely with peers in the sectors, the Innovation Centers in Shanghai, Darmstadt and Silicon Valley, M Ventures and New Business Builders to further shape the company’s global external innovation model and enable the business growth and transformation in China.

Your role:

 

EDUCATION & LANGUAGES

  • PhD or Master degree in life sciences or material science, MBA preferred
  • Fluent Mandarin and English for verbal and written communications.

 

PROFESSIONAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 5 years of (BD or R&D) experience in the fields of life sciences, advanced materials and/or semiconductor.
  • Broad knowledge of the fields of life sciences and/or materials science is required. Good know-how in healthcare is a plus.
  • Experience in identifying, evaluating and executing external partnerships and has a good understanding of equity investing.
  • Experience in ideation, incubation, IP evaluation and portfolio creation
  • Extensive network of scientists, key opinion leaders, investors, incubators and entrepreneurs active in the fields of life sciences, advanced materials and/or semiconductor.
