Your Role:

The Indianapolis manufacturing site is a contract manufacturing site that produces complex drug product formulations for sterile injectables with specialization in LNP and Liposomes. Reporting to the Site Head, the Head of Project Management Office will manage a team of project managers and operational excellence that oversee site-wide facility projects focusing on capital improvement, digitization, and process improvement projects that enhance the performance of the site. The primary role will be to serve as the Site Project Management Office (PMO) Lead overseeing the governance, execution, and strategic alignment of all site-level projects, ensuring consistent delivery, resource optimization, and cross-functional coordination across the project portfolio. Additionally, this role serves as the leader of the Operational Excellence program, responsible for driving continuous improvement initiatives, implementing Lean and Six Sigma methodologies, and leading performance optimization efforts to enhance efficiency, quality, and operational scalability across the site. He/she will be a key member of the site leadership team driving strategic direction to develop and implement business initiatives, site plans, projects and key global strategies.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

PMO

  • Lead the establishment and governance of the site-level PMO, ensuring consistent project management standards, tools, and reporting mechanisms.
  • Own and manage the end-to-end Project Portfolio Management (PPM) process – from intake and prioritization through execution and benefits realization
  • Work with Site Leadership to align initiatives with business strategy, operational readiness, and site scalability.
  • Provide executive-level updates, risk assessments, and decision support for key cross-functional programs.
  • Collaborate across sites with other Site PMO Leads and Project Managers to provide global updates on project performance and share best practices that can be brought back and applied at the site.

 

Operational Excellence

  • Develop and execute the site’s OpEx strategy, embedding Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies across all departments.
  • Lead value stream mapping, root cause analysis, and Kaizen events to address systemic challenges and improve key KPIs.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing OpEx team; serve as a coach to functional leaders on problem-solving and performance optimization.
  • Collaborate with other Site Operational Excellence Leads to provide global updates on project performance and share best practices that can be brought back and applied at the site.

 

Who You Are

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, Operations, Business, or related field
  • 15+ years of experience in project/program management, operations or engineering
  • PMP or PgMP certification
  • Experience in life sciences, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, or other complex regulated environments
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and leadership presence

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in managing large capital projects or facility expansions
  • Deep understanding of Lean, Six Sigma Green Belt (Black Belt preferred), and continuous improvement frameworks
  • Familiarity with BCM best practices and regulatory expectations in manufacturing or regulated environments
  • Experience leading site-level transformation efforts
  • Experience in life sciences, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, or other complex regulated environments
  • Strong organizational resilience and risk management mindset
  • Ability to influence at all levels, from floor operators to senior executives
