Your Role
The Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator will provide operational and maintenance support to MilliporeSigma’s wastewater treatment plant in Jaffrey, NH to ensure compliance with discharge permit requirements and the support of manufacturing processes. In addition, the Wastewater Operator will provide will part of a team responsible for treatment systems consisting of anaerobic digestion, aerobic treatment, and membrane bio reactors (MBRs). This includes all associated pumps and lift stations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform critical sampling and analysis of wastewater facility operations, such as biological oxygen demand, total suspended solids, and pH to evaluate treatment system health and regulatory compliance
- Obtain Massachusetts Wastewater Operator License within one year of hire
- Perform preventative maintenance on treatment system components such as pumps, valves, blowers, pH probes, etc.
- Collection and preparation of samples for third-party laboratory evaluation
- Maintain wastewater operation records, logs, and checklists; assist with monthly air emission logs and calculations; support stormwater and SPCC inspections
- Follow all environmental, health, and safety (EH&S) policies while staying alert to potential hazards; participate in a 24-hour on-call rotation; and help troubleshoot mechanical, plumbing, lighting, and electrical issues alongside the Facilities team.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to manage and adjust to varying wastewater flows and loads; coordinate non-hazardous wastewater shipments to third-party treatment facilities; assist with bulk and non-bulk chemical deliveries; perform confined space entry and work at heights as needed; promptly report operational changes or plant issues to management; and carry out other related duties as assigned.

- Comfortable with ladder use and work at heights
- Work outside during extreme cold/heat
Who You Are
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Studies, Chemistry, or other Life Science discipline
OR
- High school diploma or GED and 3 years’ experience in wastewater operations or environmental related position
- Experience with basic principle of aerobic and anaerobic wastewater treatment
- Valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SCADA systems
- Massachusetts Industrial Wastewater License
- Powered Industrial Vehicle Operator
- Technical and mechanical experience
- Works collaboratively with team members
- Proficiency with excel, power point, etc.
