Your Role:

The Certified Maintenance Mechanic at MilliporeSigma is responsible for performing both preventive and corrective actions to keep the operation functional. Thoroughly understands, checks, diagnoses problems, and repairs manufacturing equipment such as tank chiller, alcohol, and acetone pumps, lyophilization equipment, reverse osmosis water system, etc. Perform electrical work such as maintaining and installing new light fixtures, wall sockets, hooking up electrical controls, motors, switches, etc. Complete calibrations and equipment check on transmitters, actuators, sensors, and other controls Provide service, troubleshoots and repairs to air compressors and refrigeration compressors (i.e., freeze dryers, chiller systems, etc.), maintain oil level and Freon level, change filters, services and replace controls. Understand and troubleshoot PLC instrumentation loops and control logic (i.e., chiller units, distillation system, process operations - RO system/CIP, etc.) Install conduit and other electrical materials as directed, and routinely check all fuses and replace as needed.Completion of the Refrigerant Technician Certification within 3 months of start date. Specific Responsibilities Include:

 

  • Independently perform basic carpentry, electrical, piping, refrigeration, and distillation operations
  • Identify and troubleshoot related problems with little or no supervision
  • Keep machinery, equipment, and plant structure in operating condition, including but not limited to chemical processing equipment of all types (i.e., filter presses, agitators, homogenizers, blowers, pumps, freeze dryers, centrifugation equipment, chiller/heating units, scrubber units, etc.)
  • Perform plumbing activities including maintaining and installing piping, fittings, valves, gauges, traps, etc., in both manufacturing processing and sanitation, and troubleshoot acetone distillation unit operation
  • Perform carpentry work such as building wooden bookcases, shelves, benches, crates, hanging doors, and replacing windows
  • Perform minor service to the boiler such as replacing gauges, controls, and adding water treatment compounds and troubleshoot boiler for flame failures and steam/condensate leaks
  • Compliance with all Millipore Sigma’s Personnel and Safety practices and provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Night shift 5:30pm-5:30am 12 hour shift- 2, 2, 3 

 

Physical Attributes:

  •  Lifting, relocation, and fitting of compressors, tanks, heat exchangers, etc
  • May require regulatory loading process tanks with dry chemical ingredients, with up to 50 pounds bags
  • Accessing and performing tasks in an area 12-36" above floor height
  • Wear appropriate (PPE) while working around mechanical parts and hazardous material(hard hats, glasses / goggles, chemical resistant suites, gloves, safety shoes, respirator)
  • Utilizing visual acuity and color differentiation for equipment troubleshooting

 

Who You Are:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED  
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Completion of 30 hours/credits of college-accredited classwork in maintenance areas  (e.g., refrigeration, electricity, electronics, technical math, and mechanical courses)
  • Certification as a Certified Control System Technician (CCST) by the Instrumentations Systems and Automation Society (ISA), Certified Maintenance and Reliability Technician (CMRT by ISA)

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3 + years of demonstrated work experience in industrial maintenance
  • Proficiency with electrical and refrigeration diagnostic equipment (i.e., multimeter, calibration test equipment, leak detector, refrigeration gauges, and scales.)
  • Demonstrated competency in the areas of carpentry, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, and mechanical maintenance
  • Proficiency with troubleshooting and reading electrical, piping, and P&ID schematics
  • Prior experience reviewing jobs and determining materials
  • Prior experience with "rigging" (using chains, ropes, straps, etc., required to move or install a large piece of equipment)
  • Experience with operating powered industrial trucks (forklifts) and other motorized equipment
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently independently

 

 

$44.86 and hour
