Your Role:

This job primarily involves owning and maintaining the cost accounting system and reporting within the ERP, ensuring compliance with GAAP. This includes performing advanced cost analysis, comparing estimated to actual costs, preparing budget reports, and collaborating with various departments. Secondary responsibilities include supporting the broader accounting team with tasks such as financial report preparation, month/quarter-end close, budgeting, forecasting, and providing backup for critical accounting functions.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Cost Accounting Leader:
    • Ensuring robust cost accounting processes. Preparing budgeting reports.
    • Establishing and maintaining Bills of Material (BOMs), routings, labor, and overhead rates. Analyzing and reporting cost variances and actual profit margins at product family and SKU levels.
    • Determining fixed costs and predicting/recording variable costs (with an understanding of Life Science industry COGS norms).
    • Improving financial controls and becoming an ERP expert for cost accounting functions.
    • Support accounting team (or other related team) with month end reporting or accounting tasks.
  • Staff Accounting Support:
    • Providing backup for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll.
    • Assisting with month-end close processes, including account reconciliation and inventory review. Preparing financial reports and accounting statements.
    • Filing tax forms and assisting with annual audits.

 

Who You Are: 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Economics, or other Business or Social Science discipline.
  • 4+ years experience in cost accounting. 
  • 2+ years experience with ERP systems.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Life Sciences experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficient in ERP system(s) Microsoft Business Central.
  • Thorough understanding of cost accounting procedures and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills, with close attention to detail.
  • Experience managing confidential information.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
