Your Role:

As an Associate Production Scientist specializing in Safety, Quality, and Technical Writing, you will play a pivotal role in driving continuous improvement initiatives within our organization. The hours for this position are 7:00am–3:30pm Monday-Friday, though it may involve flexible hours and occasional hybrid work depending on business needs. More specific responsibilities include:

  • Safety:
      • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and implement measures to enhance laboratory and operational safety.
      • Develop and implement safety protocols, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and best practices. 
      • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish and maintain a safety-first culture within the organization.
  • Quality:
      • Design, implement, and optimize quality control procedures to uphold and improve product quality.
      • Investigate and resolve complex process quality issues, implementing corrective and preventive actions.
      • Comply with change control procedures. Participate as needed in quality & safety audits.
  • Technical Writing:
      • Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and safety manuals.
      • Communicate complex scientific concepts in a clear and concise manner for diverse audiences, including regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders.
      • Review and update documentation regularly to reflect process changes and improvements.
  • Project Management:
      • Lead and participate in cross-functional project teams focused on safety, quality, and process improvement initiatives.
      • Collaborate with R&D, production, packaging engineering, planning, and regulatory affairs teams to integrate safety and quality considerations into new product development.
      • Other duties as assigned by manager.
      • Perform public speaking as needed, including monthly safety meetings.
      • Perform and interpret analytical evaluations of products and intermediates.
      • Participation in Medical Emergency Response Team and/or Emergency Spill Response Team.
      • Provide complete and accurate records consistent with quality guidelines (GDP).Contribute to support functions of the department (e.g., maintain equipment, prepare reagents, restock lab supplies, perform waste disposal, design & build chemical packaging apparatus, create & maintain work instructions, troubleshoot process/equipment issues, etc.). 

 

Physical Attributes:

    • Chemical environment - perform tasks while wearing personal protective equipment such as respirator or chemical-protective clothing for extended periods.
    • Occasional lifting and pushing of up to 50 pounds.

 

Who You Are

Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Biology, or other Life Science discipline
    • 1+ years of professional lab experience or in operations/manufacturing

 

Preferred Qualifications:

    • Strong background in chemistry, experimental design, and/or lab/manufacturing safety.
    • Independent lab research, and project management experience.
    • Familiar with laboratory instruments and production equipment.
    • Knowledge of process techniques and unit operations.
    • Familiar with analytical techniques and equipment.
    • Communication skills, both oral and written.
    • Ability to use various computer programs, including Microsoft Office, inventory control software (e.g. SAP), and quality management software.
    • Basic-to-intermediate mechanical skills (i.e., use of basic hand tools).
    • Troubleshooting skills.
    • Interpersonal skills.
    • Organizational skills.
    • Knowledge of ISO Quality standards.

Pay Range for this position: $27-$48/hour

 

The offer range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base pay compensation for this position. The actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level of experience, education, skills, and other job-related factors. Position may be eligible for sales or performance-based bonuses. Benefits offered by the Company include health insurance, paid time off (PTO), retirement contributions, and other perquisites.
