Your Role

The Maintenance Technician 3 – 2nd Shift will maintain and install equipment, facilities, and utility systems. In addition, provide leadership, expertise, and training to other department members. Job duties include:

  • Shift hours:  2nd shift, Monday - Friday, 2:30pm – 11:00pm
  • Requires flexibility to work a variety of shifts (including nights, weekends, holidays, on-call, and call-in) and independently; requires availability for occasional work-related travel and a valid driver’s license.
  • Responsible for independently completing assigned work orders (P.M. tasks) upon successful completion of required training curriculum.
  • Performs corrective and preventive maintenance on equipment, facilities, and utility systems while proactively identifying and reporting unsafe work conditions, and strictly adhering to all safety rules and regulations.
  • Implements changes using the Management of Change Process and addresses deviations through Non-Conformance Reports, while consistently reading, writing clearly, understanding, and following work instructions, procedures, and drawings/schematics.
  • Troubleshoots, maintains, installs, and repairs electrical, HVAC, and mechanical issues, as well as instrumentation, equipment, and systems, while also assisting with process improvement initiatives and completing assigned miscellaneous duties and tasks.
  • Operates a variety of tools including hand tools, power tools, basic shop equipment (grinder, drill press, sand blaster, band saw), and material handling equipment (forklift/man lift), as well as hoists and rigging equipment for troubleshooting and repairing packaging machinery, and utilizes precision measuring, electrical testing, calibration, and recovery equipment.
  • Manages changes and non-conformances using the Management of Change (MOC) process and Non-Conformance Reports (NCR), references NEC and NFPA codes, and ensures meticulous updates to files and paperwork.
  • Skilled in reading gauges and units of measure, identifying repair parts, performing boiler water and cooling tower chemistry tests, conducting preventive and corrective maintenance on boilers, guiding contractors and technicians, utilizing precision measuring equipment, and understanding materials of construction and chemical compatibility.
  • Possesses leadership skills to direct contractors and technicians, demonstrates strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities through analysis and risk evaluation, and participates in department audits and collaborates with the engineering department.
  • Exemplary attendance and adherence to schedule

 

 Physical Attributes:

  • Occasionally lift 50 pounds unassisted and additional weight with assistance
  • Walk long distances and be able to stay on your feet for eight hours
  • Regularly sit, stand, walk, reach above the shoulder, stoop, kneel, twist, crouch, or crawl for long periods of time
  • Use hands and feet to operate equipment
  • Regularly works near moving mechanical parts, outdoor weather conditions, and sources of electrical shock, vibrations, fumes, and airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals for which protective equipment and procedures must be used. 
  • Workplace noise level is loud, occasionally very loud.
  • Occasionally wear hard hat, safety shoes, eye protection, hearing protection, protective gloves, respirator, and face shield
  • Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth vision, and the ability to adjust focus needed

 

  

Who You Are

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license
  • 2 + years of experience in HVAC, electrical/instrumentation, and/or mechanical (i.e., Boiler Operator’s)

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 + years of experience in HVAC, electrical/instrumentation, and/or mechanical (i.e., Boiler Operator’s)
  • Excellent leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Self-motivation and high efficiency skills
  • Follows good documentation practices
  • Knowledgeable in the testing, operation, and repair of fire protection systems.
  • Proficiency with computers and experience with MS office and SAP
  • Excellent organizational skills and 5S skills and follows good documentation practices
