Scientist - Analytical Development

Your role:


As an integral part of our new product development and innovation team, the Scientist - Analytical Development leads the development of testing and validation methodologies for the performance of our products and technologies. This individual would play an essential role in establishing and nurturing collaborations with sister analytical and application development groups within the Company. Proactive engagement with internal R&D as well as our partners in Business Development, Marketing, Sales, Production in areas of technology ideation, product performance expectations, and marketing initiative is also a crucial piece of this role. The Scientist – Analytical Development is also expected to set high quality standards by following good laboratory practices and complying with all safety regulations.
 

  • Lead the development, improvement, and optimization of analytical laboratory methods in supporting ongoing technology, application, and new product development
  • Develop methods and interpret data using HPLC, LCMS, GC, GCMS, and other analytical techniques to assess the purity of products, as well as analyzing in process mixtures for process optimization
  • Develop analytical platforms and transfer these protocols to Quality Control via departmentally supported procedures
  • Assist the new product development team in establishing specifications for intermediates and final products
  • Ensure analytical equipment is maintained and accurate with manufacturer recommended calibration and routine maintenance
  • Establish credibility as an individual contributor and work as a team to achieve goals, including meeting deadlines and productivity markers
  • Engage with the internal innovation team in formulating project concepts
  • Document work and results accurately in lab notebooks
  • Provide technical support to Production, Quality Control, and Product Management
  • Offer technical training to Production and Quality Control  
  • Serve as a technical liaison with the other R&D or technical groups

 

Who You Are:
 

Minimum Qualifications:
 

  • PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related scientific discipline
  • 5 years’ experience in an industrial analytical development environment

 

OR

 

  • MS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related scientific discipline
  • 10 years’ experience in an industrial analytical development environment

 

Preferred Qualifications:
 

  • Demonstrated success in advancing a diverse portfolio of innovative technologies including catalysis, drug delivery, 3D bioprinting, nanomaterials and battery materials
  • Advanced knowledge of chemical synthesis processes and safe chemical handling
  • Wide variety of experience with analytical chemistry techniques (GC, mp, HPLC, IR, UV, NMR) and knowledge of spectra interpretation and mathematics
  • Proficiency with LCMS, electrochemistry, and wet chemical analysis
  • Experience with catalysis screening applications
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, to include presenting
  • Outstanding technical writing capabilities (experimental procedures, reports, etc.)
  • High degree of computer literacy, including proficiency with SAP, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Lotus Notes
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Interpersonal skills and knowledge of ISO Quality Standards
