Business Unit Head, Fertility & Endocrinology

Who we are: EMD Serono a business of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany; is a leading science and technology company in healthcare, focused on specialty care. The Canadian healthcare commercial business has a deep expertise in neurology, fertility and endocrinology, and a strong pipeline of potential therapies in oncology, immuno-oncology and immunology.


Your Role: As the Business Unit Head, Fertility & Endocrinology, you will direct the strategy and activities of a large Business Unit consisting of sales and marketing professionals. You will oversee development and execution of strategic and tactical plans for the business unit and achieve business results and ensure there is a long term vision for the brands and portfolio. You will create and align strategies with the global marketing department, and plan and execute appropriate tactical plans while participating as a member of the Leadership Team (LT) to serve as the main body for cross-functional ratification of decisions and corporate strategy. You will also contribute to the cross-functional communication and coordination of efforts to ensure implementation of the corporate strategy and annual plan.


The role will also deliver quality annual business unit plans with prioritized investments, that are aligned with corporate plans and include differentiated signature programs that ensure focus and impact. The role will oversee all pricing changes and rebating contract content and recommend any required changes to distribution channel management and terms. The Business Unit Head will ensure appropriate leadership and development of the team: define clear objectives, allocate resources, and monitor activities and ensure relevant success planning and talent development within the Business Unit.


Who You Are: You have a minimum Bachelor’s degree in Science, with a masters degree preferred. Speaking both French and English would be considered an asset. You have a minimum of 10 years in pharmaceutical industry, inclusive of 5+ years in a leadership role managing direct reports. You have a Minimum 5 years of pharmaceutical field sales & marketing management experience in a specialty area and a proven track record of achieving National sales results over a minimum of 3 years. Fertility marketing and sales management experience is preferred.


You have significant experience in developing and executing successful business plans with progressive people management, development and leadership skills. You have a Strategic mindset, financial acumen, scientific literacy, excellent communication skills, proven leadership, global outlook and an ability and willingness to travel.
