Compliance Officer

Who we are: EMD Serono a business of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany; is a leading science and technology company in healthcare, focused on specialty care. The Canadian healthcare commercial business has a deep expertise in neurology, fertility and endocrinology, and a strong pipeline of potential therapies in oncology, immuno-oncology and immunology.

 

This position is a 2 year contract -

 

Your Role: As the compliance officer, you will determine and implement standards of compliance and ethical conduct within the organization, and design, develop and advance compliance training programs and processes that align to the expected organizational standards and ensure compliance awareness is maintained. You will act as a channel of communication to receive and direct Global and local compliance information appropriately and provide escalation and decision-making support on compliance related questions and concerns.

 

The compliance officer will Serve as Chair of the EMD Serono Compliance Committee and fulfill all Chair related duties described in the Compliance Committee Charter and Serve as the Compliance Approver in the Quantum Connect system. You will ensure data capture, reporting, auditing and monitoring of compliance activities are completed per Global Compliance and Group Auditing Function requirements and develop and lead an effective investigation and sanctions process.

 

You will also identify and assess the impact of relevant local industry trends and regulations; serve as the EMD Serono Representative with appropriate local industry associations that are related to compliance.

 

Who You Are: you have a degree in Law or Business, with an advanced degree is preferred. You have a minimum of 3 years of work experience in a Legal or Compliance function with a multi-national organization with specialization in Pharmaceutical compliance, law and regulations; or a combination of education and experience which would provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to meet the minimum qualifications to perform the essential functions of this position. You have strong leadership capabilities with the ability to work with and influence all levels of Management, professional staff and the general workforce. You have demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, strong written and verbal communication skills with proficiency in English (French is an asset).
