Your Role

We are seeking a highly creative and technically skilled individual to join our Application Lab as an Application Specialist - Plastics. In this role, you will support Surface Solutions' commercial teams across (North and South America). Specializing in decorative pigments and laser marking for plastic applications. This position requires a blend of scientific knowledge and artistic sensibility to develop, evaluate, and present innovative color solutions for industrial use. On-site presence in the application laboratory located in Philadelphia, PA. Specific Responsibilities Include:

 

  • Provide technical support on laser marking additives and decorative pigments for plastics.
  • Manage customer-driven projects, collaborating with sales, marketing teams to develop tailored solutions.
  • Conduct application testing and analysis to optimize product performance for plastics.
  • Learn and adapt new application technologies to create concept prototypes showcasing USPs of our products in applications.
  • Develop and deliver technical training and presentations for customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Support marketing initiatives by creating technical content and application insights.
  • Facilitate new product introductions, working closely with product management.
  • Address technical inquiries from customers, sales teams, and other stakeholders.

 

Who You Are

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree Industrial Design Engineering  Mechanical Engineering,Chemical or Material Engineering, or other technical disciplines.
  • 2+ years of experience demonstrating a strong foundation in plastics technology and application development.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Knowledgeable in pigment technologies and their applications within plastic industry.
  • Strong creativity and problem-solving skills with an eye for color trends, and functional performance.
  • Experience working with plastics additives.
  • Familiarity with plastics manufacturing processes (e.g., extrusion, injection molding, film processing).
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with customers, sales, marketing and other internal partners.
