Manager Social and Digital Media

We are recruiting for a newly created Manager, Social and Digital Media role to lead the development and execution of a social and digital media Center of Excellence within North America. Based at our US headquarters in Rockland, Massachusetts, the Manager, Social and Digital Media will have experience within the healthcare industry, a strong understanding of the latest social and digital communications approaches, as we well as passion for creating and executing engagement campaigns that advance corporate brands, narratives and reputations. Fostering strong relationships with communications, IT and other team members at our North American regional headquarters as well as our global headquarters in Darmstadt, Germany are an important part of the role. The Manager, Social and Digital Media must have strong organizational and leadership abilities, superlative communication skills (particularly written), and deep expertise with campaign targeting and paid promotion, scheduling, analytics reporting and translating this data for a lay audience. This role also requires the ability to multi-task and develop internal relationships to drive a robust and consistent cadence of social and digital content that reflects our mission and culture. Additionally, management of budgets, agencies, approval processes and relationships within a highly matrixed, fast-paced business environment are requirements for this role.

 

Your Role:

  • Create a Social/Digital Media Center of Excellence within North America, including strong partnership with global social media manager, cross-sector social media manager and therapeutic area communications teams to support and enhance campaigns and content within North America
  • Enhance quality of content, engagement, and visibility of EMD Serono through corporate social and digital channels
  • Serve as a primary hands on lead and project manager for all local/corporate and talent acquisition social media campaigns for EMD Serono
  • Maintain the social media editorial calendar and work with various stakeholders to triage and incorporate content requests
  • Draft copy for corporate social media channels and manage a multi-step review process, including PSMR, SMRT Committee
  • Develop creative assets for social media posts utilizing established brand guidelines
  • Responsible for post scheduling and channel monitoring and escalation
  • Manage copy update requests for EMDSerono.com and identify areas for improvement, coordinate updates with IT, vendors and Communications colleagues
  • Work seamlessly with our vendor partners in graphic design, video, web design, etc.
  • Serve as social media subject matter expert for internal business partners

 

Who You Are:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in communications (or similar)
  • 5+ years of experience in digital and social media communications
  • Passion for social and digital media, deep knowledge of digital and social platforms, keen eye for detail, strong writer, creative
  • Understanding and hands-on experience with campaign targeting and paid promotion, scheduling, analytics reporting and translating that data for a lay audience
  • Deep experience with the enterprise parts of the native platforms (Facebook Business Manager, Twitter Ads Manager, LinkedIn Campaign Manager)
  • Familiarity with Google Analytics and social schedulers (e.g., Hootsuite, Social Studio, etc.)
  • Knowledge of CMS, responsive design and user experience (UX) needed
  • Ability to interact with senior management in a matrix organization
  • Business-fluent English speaking and writing skills required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Healthcare industry knowledge preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in digital and social media communications within the healthcare/biopharma industry

 

This role is located at our North American HQ in Rockland, MA and will require onsite presence 3-4 days per week.
