Your role:

 

At MilliporeSigma, as an Associate Scientist 3 (AS3) you will perform routine NGS lab-based research and development work. The AS3 will make scientific observations, maintain detailed workbooks/ documentation and ensure all documentation fulfills generally accepted professional/industry standards. The AS3 will also maintain a thorough understanding of MilliporeSigma services, technical principles, and applications.

  • Conducts assigned work with minimal supervision within constraints of lab scheduling.
  • Performs routine lab work supporting senior lab personal in accordance with SOPs and regulations (cGMP and GLP) within a BSL2 environments.
  • Maintains complete and comprehensive records, makes detailed observations, documents results and performs data analysis.
  • Operates and maintains lab equipment as required by SOPs and testing procedures and performs peer review of assay batch/lab records
  • Revises SOPs, laboratory records and other related documentation as assigned.
  • Performs training of laboratory personnel as needed/assigned.
  • Assumes roles on more complex team projects.
  • Supports maintaining inventory of lab reagents, consumables, etc.
  • Complies with company health and safety regulations and procedures.

 

Who You Are:

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in a scientific discipline (e.g., Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, etc.),  with 1+ years laboratory experience -OR-
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific discipline (e.g., Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, etc.),  with 3+ years laboratory experience -OR-
  • Associate’s Degree in a scientific discipline (e.g., Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, etc.),  with 6+ years’ laboratory experience -OR-
  • 1+ years experience NGS library preparations quantifications, and sequencing (Illumina, Nanopore platforms)

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands on experience in a Molecular Biology laboratory environment.
  • Effectively carry out DNA/RNA isolation, quantification, PCR/qPCR, and ddPCR.
  • Experience with automated instruments, liquid handlers
  • Familiarity with cell culture technique and cell perturbation methods
  • Intermediate skills computer (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Oracle, LIMS, BRIQS, etc.) and familiarity with Linux command line
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and experience with presentations/seminars, oversight of projects, etc.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-based environment
  • Technically skilled with a strong ability to multitask and manage complex workflows efficiently

 

Pay Range for this position - $28/hr - $55/hr

Our ranges are derived from several sources, and largely reliant on relevant industry market data.
