You Role:

Intermolecular Inc (subsidiary of EMD Electronics), a center for materials and device innovation, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Scientist with expertise in material science to join our Strategic and Emerging Technologies team. This role focuses on developing cutting-edge materials essential for advanced logic and memory technology nodes, playing a pivotal role in developing the materials for future semiconductor technologies.

Candidate must have demonstrated hands-on experience with semiconductor materials processing, integration, physical and device characterization, and development for advanced memory applications. Works with other technology team members including integration, device, process and electrical test engineers to solve time critical technology challenges and develop unique solutions for customers in collaborative development partnerships.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop innovative materials solutions suitable for advanced semiconductor processing, targeting improvement in performance.
  • Utilize deep understanding of materials interactions with process physics and hardware to optimize material properties and process integration.
  • Design and execute experiments, analyze complex data, and provide clear, actionable insights.
  • Contribute to intellectual property strategy through patent filings and publications in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Present findings and progress to senior management and at relevant scientific conferences.

Main Interfaces:

  • Interfaces with other Departments/Functions: Program management, Deposition, Characterization, Informatics, Operations, Engineering.
  • External Interfaces: Customers, Equipment manufacturers, vendors

 

Who You Are:

 

Minimum Qualification

  • Masters degree in Materials Science, Semiconductor Physics or Electrical Engineering
  • 3+ years of industrial experience

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the semiconductor industry or related field
  • PhD in Materials Science, Semiconductor Physics or Electrical Engineering
  • Strong theoretical and practical background in materials science, particularly as it applies to semiconductor processing and device operation.
  • Proven experience in the development of materials for semiconductor applications, with a focus on advanced logic and memory technologies.
  • Familiarity with common thin-film and device characterization techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team, exhibiting excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to rapidly changing project requirements.
  • Ability to engage with customers on a highly technical basis. Excellent teamwork as well as verbal and written communication skills.
  • Global cultural awareness
  • Must be comfortable working in a clean room environment for 4 hours per day.
  • Up to 15% international travel

 

Pay Range for this position: $73,000 - $219,000

 

Our ranges incorporate all levels and career types available within this specific role, and are derived from relevant industry market data.  Should we decide to make an offer, we will consider several factors, including but not limited to your location, skills, experience, career level, and other job-related factors.  This role may offer the following benefits: medical, vision, and dental insurance; life insurance; disability insurance; a 401(k) matching program; paid time off; and paid holidays; among other employee benefits. This role may also be eligible for short-term or long-term incentive compensation, including, but not limited to, cash bonuses.
