Your Role: 


The Associate Quality Control Chemist at MilliporeSigma in Sheboygan Falls, WI will perform routine assignments using existing procedures and evaluate products according to established protocols, provide technical support to others and perform operations in support of the group and department. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  

  • Conduct chemical suitability tests in accordance with guidelines of the quality management system 
  • Perform routine analytical tests and primary review in compliance with standardized methodology  
  • Operate analytical equipment and software such as titration(s), spectroscopy, chromatography, and more 
  • Document and process analytical data  
  • Perform standard stoichiometry and unit conversions 
  • Compare analytical data against established library(s) and product specification(s) 
  • Input analytical data into process management software (ERP software) 
  • Maintain complete and accurate records consistent with quality guidelines  
  • Safely handle, process, route and request stock suitability samples 
  • Train new hires on relevant SOPs and operations in assigned work area(s), as defined 
  • Perform basic analytical problem solving   
  • Support general laboratory functions and routine maintenances   
  • Perform equipment maintenance, restock laboratory supplies, and practice proper waste disposal in accordance to existing guidelines 
  • Run performance verifications and calibrations in accordance to standard operating procedures 
  • Assist with reagent and chemical management in the laboratory  
  • Train and collaborate cross functionally with other team members, equivalent to level of expertise    
  • Develop and apply basic understanding of analytical/product development, validation(s) and maintenance
  • Identify opportunities for quality improvement in compliance with Quality Management System  
  • Write and submit quality deviation record(s) for management review   
  • Contribute to the document management program: Create and update department SOPs, equivalent to level of expertise 
  • Participate in quality-related discussions during team meetings, equivalent to level of expertise 
  • Participate in safety trainings  and coordinate basic process, quality, and safety improvement project(s) with management support 
  • Communicate with relevant management and departments to ensure customer focused excellence 
  • Provide status updates on operations and bring any deviations to the attention of your supervisor  
  • Work with and support internal department teams  
  • Supply information to customers and site visitors based on training, experience and knowledge
  • Support quality and customer audits, equivalent to level of expertise   
  • Provide basic technical and operations related feedback internally and externally  
  • Complete routine procedure and policy trainings through the Learning Management System  
  • Process and route analytical data through a sample tracking system  
  • Conduct job functions in a safe and timely manner  
  • Assist team members with overflow work  
  • Use metric tracking system  
  • Participate in department meetings 
  • Execute job responsibilities to management expectation, aligning to individual, department, and site objectives (equivalent to level of expertise)
  • Hours: Wednesday-Saturday 4:00PM-2:30AM

 

Physical Attributes:
  

  • Wear appropriate protective gear, (hard hats, glasses/goggles, chemical resistant suits, gloves, safety shoes) and other personal protection equipment “PPE” to protect from toxic or corrosive chemicals in the forms of liquids, solids, vapors or airborne particles
  • Sit, stand, walk, reach above the shoulder, stoop, kneel, twist, crouch or crawl for long periods of time while performing the duties of this job
  • Lift and move up to 50 pounds unassisted - may need to lift more than 50 pounds with assistance
  • Use close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth vision and have the ability to adjust focus

  
Who You Are: 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or other life science discipline   

  
Preferred Qualifications: 

 

  • Familiarity with laboratory instruments and production equipment
  • Independent chemistry lab research experience
  • Experience with process and analytical techniques, equipment and unit operations 
  • Safe chemical handling methods
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Compute chemical calculations and conversions 
  • Adapt, self-motivate, with critical thinking skills
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Database software management skills
  • Skilled in making decisions and attention to detail
  • Basic understanding of Data Integrity
