Your Role:
Produces and purifies chemical compounds to meet the demands and requirements of MilliporeSigma customers. Typically reports to a Manager role based on organizational set-up, and will have a lead person for day-to-day guidance.
- Identifies and addresses process issues: Recognizes anomalies, suggests corrective measures, and participates in root cause investigations, including implementing Corrective And Preventative Actions (CAPA).
- Develops and improves procedures: Writes and revises Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and suggests modifications to simple Manufacturing Production Records (MPRs).
- Trains and mentors colleagues: Provides training to new employees, mentors co-workers, and maintains training records.
- Solves production challenges: Offers solutions to production and packaging questions and problems, troubleshoots day-to-day and complex issues, and acts as a key resource for processing issues.
- Drives continuous improvement: Participates in PDSA test cycles and "Just Do Its," leads and initiates 6S/OPEX improvements, and contributes to department goals.
- Conducts small-scale experimentation: Performs small-scale experiments as directed and conducts in-process analytical testing with interpretations.
- Fosters a positive culture: Actively contributes to a positive safety, quality, and inclusive culture through voice and action, and participates in incident investigations and safety meetings.
- Manages work independently and collaboratively: Develops and executes daily work plans, assists team members, and participates in cross-departmental initiatives.
- Possesses SAP proficiency: Demonstrates basic, intermediate, or advanced knowledge of relevant SAP applications for tasks like entering work hours, billing materials, and material movements.
- Handles complex manufacturing/packaging: Manufactures/packages complex products requiring advanced techniques and skills, and is proficient with complex packaging techniques.
- Ensures quality and safety adherence: Verifies the quality and integrity of materials and equipment, identifies unsafe conditions, follows company quality guidelines (ISO, MRB, cGMP), and wears/maintains PPE.
- Performs operational tasks: Stages and destages materials, operates vessels and other equipment, charges materials, monitors chemical reactions, and performs distillations, filtrations, extractions, and recrystallizations.
- Hours: 1st shift (Mon - Fri, 6 am to 230 pm)
Who You Are:
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 5 years of chemistry-related work experience, including 2 years as Manufacturing Operator II
Preferred Qualifications:
- Chemistry or Science-related associate degree (Chemical Technician) or 2 years of college Chemistry
- Secondary education may be accepted in lieu of experience
- Communication skills – verbal and written
- Problem solving
- Basic math skills, including using the metric system
- Mechanical aptitude and dexterity
- Ability to learn how to use manual and automated equipment
- Ability to operate a forklift
- Move more than 50 pounds with assistance
- Regularly uses phones, computers, office equipment and laboratory equipment
