Your Role

 

The US Curiosity Cube Coordinator is responsible for the development and execution the Curiosity Cube science education program within the Sustainability & Social Business Innovation team of the Life Science business. The projects are often global in nature, requires local implementation and necessitates diverse thinking and flexible schedules.


In this role, you'll be at the forefront of our SPARK™ global volunteer program, making a real impact with the Curiosity Cube—a mobile science lab that travels across North America and Europe. You'll help enhance science education for students aged 8-13, providing them with hands-on learning experiences that ignite their curiosity.

 

This position involves travel in the United States and Canada. Travel anticipated is approximately 50 percent, including weekdays and weekends. Specific Responsibilities include;

Relationship Building

  • Build and manage a strong partnership with local MilliporeSigma sites, colleagues, partners, school heads and science teachers
  • Identify potential STEM partners and science festivals in focus countries for the Curiosity Cube’s participation

Advance Work

  • Develop a daily event schedule, taking into consideration local STEM festivals, special events and MilliporeSigma site activities
  • Coordinating event logistics with event hosts, such as schools and community managers.
  • Recruitment and training of volunteers for each Curiosity Cube event

Coordination with vendors

  • Identifying locations for Curiosity Cube events and partnering with our logistics provider to execute the drop and pick-up of the mobile lab.
  • Partner with our vendor for maintenance and any necessary repairs.

Event Management

  • Ensuring a safe Curiosity Cube experience for all visitors and volunteers
  • Manage all required set up and teardown of experiment material
  • Ensuring proper supplies are available for visitors and volunteers
  • Fulfilling all media requests at events, including news interviews.

Communication

  • Develop local mini-marketing campaigns to draw awareness and publicity to the Curiosity Cube with relevant media
  • Create internal communications related to the Curiosity Cube, such as volunteer recruitment and program results communication
  • Execute mini-social media campaigns (Instagram stories), on event days
  • Launch post-location social media posts for online followers

Employee engagement

  • Coordination with MilliporeSigma offices on Curiosity Cube events and opportunities
  • Schedule, coordinate and implement employee volunteer training
