Your Role: 

As a Logistics Safety Specialist, you will provide EHS support directly to those departments and employees involved in the Transportation and distribution of products and materials handling warehouse activities at the St Louis Hub. Responsibilities include: 

  • Work with the company’s Dangerous Goods Manager to ensure all company equipment is in compliance with state and federal regulations, including registrations, IFTA, DOT, and all other legal documentation for operating needs.  
  • Work with the company’s Dangerous Good Manager to ensure Dangerous Goods requirements are met including packaging, shipping, transportation of a hazardous materials 
  • Conduct EHS-related training for affected employees within transportation, materials management, warehouse, and other departments  
  • Conduct safety inspections and ensure departmental personnel are competent in performing safety inspections  
  • Identify risk reduction methods and work with site management in implementing those methods 
  • Ensure departmental personnel are competent in performing Risk Assessments and ensure necessary Risk Assessments are completed  
  • Interact routinely with site management, supervision, and personnel on EHS matters 
  • Respond to and assist in investigation of employee injuries and area emergencies 
  • Member of the Emergency Response Team with some on call duties 

  

Physical Attributes: 

  • Don/doff and wear PPE including emergency response equipment such as gloves, respirator, and protective clothing 
  • Walk and climb steps routinely 
  • Work in ambient temperature and humidity environments 

  

Who You Are: 

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an EHS discipline (e.g. Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering) or a Supply Chain discipline (e.g. Logistics or Operations Management)
  • 3+ years of EHS experience in distribution, transportation, and/or warehousing

  

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • CHMM 
  • Certified Safety Professional 
  • Advanced knowledge of IH, Safety & Environmental regulations and standards (i.e., OSHA, EPA, DOT) 
  • Experience performing public speaking to include meeting with and provide training for site personnel 
  • Experience in all safety aspects of DOT, FMSCA, and OSHA regulations. 
  • Prior experience with accident reviews and investigations, corrective action plans and retraining.
