Your Role:

 

To stage, fill, cap, label, and over pack liquid, powder, and lyophilized products per approved packaging specifications and according to safety and quality protocols.

 

Job Functions:

 

  • Shift (3rd): Sunday-Thursday 10:30 pm-7 am.  Shift is new, so first months of training will be on 1st or 2nd shift. 
  • Complete appropriate packaging documentation per FDA, ISO, and GMP procedures and deliver products to inventory.
  • Fill, cap, and label chemical products
  • Manually fill liquids or powders
  • Independently set-up and operate semi-automated fill lines
  • Perform routine cleaning to semi-automated equipment
  • Assist with the setup and operation of automated fills when needed
  • Organize and set-up the filling of complex, highly hazardous fills
  • Utilize semi-automated equipment to fill liquids or powders
  • Fill products utilizing aseptic techniques
  • Perform fills in environmentally controlled areas
  • Fill hazardous products
  • Utilize pumps to transfer bulk solutions
  • Use electronic balances to properly weigh materials
  • Filter bulk material using pumps and in-line filters or vacuum filters
  • Manually torque caps with wrenches
  • Operate and troubleshoot semi-automated cappers
  • Assist with loading bottles and pack-off during fill line operations
  • Set up and operate automated labelers
  • Hand label as necessary
  • Pack kits when necessary
  • Use material handling equipment safely to transport materials throughout the building
  • Clean laboratory glassware and batch tanks
  • Follow all quality and safety procedures. Support quality systems
  • Assist in training operators on semi-automated filling equipment
  • Follow safety procedures at all times
  • Document all equipment used and verify calibration status
  • Don, doff, use, and clean PPE
  • Be familiar with hazards common to assigned work and take action to correct unsafe situations
  • Participate in required safety activities such as training sessions, meetings, and safety inspections
  • Develop and assist in the implementation of process improvement ideas
  • Comply with the requirements of ISO 13485 and ISO 9001
  • Participate in 6S activities
  • Maintain good housekeeping and audit readiness
  • Follow Merck Code of Conduct and work well with team members on the floor to meet departmental goals
  • Assist in training personnel

 

Who You Are

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 3 + months of chemical packaging, manufacturing, or scientific/laboratory experience

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Fill, cap, and label chemical products
  • 3+ months of experience in ISO/GMP regulated environment
  • 3+ months of chemical packaging, manufacturing, or scientific/laboratory experience
  • Ability to do basic math-including metrics and conversions
  • Knowledge of safety rules, GMP, SOP’s, UOP’s
  • Mechanical skills with ability to use pumps, electronic balances, and material handling equipment
  • Troubleshoot automated packaging equipment
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to train others and work in a team setting
  • Experience with hand tools
