Your Role:
The Packaging Specialist will be responsible for downstream operations at the Dekalb, Ewing, and Cherokee St. Louis facilities. Responsibilities will include troubleshooting, monitoring, and routine minor maintenance of automated and semi-automated equipment. Utilizing expertise to train and assist less experienced operators ensuring operations are consistent with current operating procedures.

Consistently follow and actively promote proper safety protocols and PPE to other staff.

Maintain the safety and cleanliness of packaging areas and all related equipment during each shift.

Complete appropriate packaging documentation per FDA, ISO, and GMP procedures and deliver products to inventory.

Execute filling, capping, labeling, and over-packing for a variety of product types (liquids, powders, lyophilized) in accordance with approved specifications and safety/quality protocols.

Operate both manual and semi-automated packaging equipment; set up, clean, and maintain equipment to ensure operational efficiency and audit readiness.

Lead/coordinate filling of complex custom fills.

Accurately document production activities, processing details, and equipment usage; enter data into SAP and maintain relevant tracking systems and cost sheets.

Utilize a wide variety of written procedures, including packaging instructions, process orders, chemical safety documentation, batch records and operating procedures.

Correct safety and process issue gaps as identified through standard inspections and audits in a timely and effective manner.

Comply with the requirements of ISO 13485 and ISO 9001.

Provide departmental support through additional tasks as directed by department leadership.
Physical Attributes:

Ability to stand for long periods of time (up to 8 hours)

Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds with the assistance of equipment or teammates as necessary

Ability to utilize proper personal protective equipment which could include, but is not limited to: respiratory protection (dust masks, half/full face respirators, supplied air, etc), MilliporeSigma issued work uniforms, and full body protection (disposable coveralls, hazmat suits, etc)
This is a 1st shift position: Monday-Friday 6am-2:30pm
Who You Are:
Minimum Qualifications:
-
High School Diploma or GED
-
1+ years experience with chemical weighing, laboratory, filling, or packaging experience
-
1+ years experience with automated fill lines or semi-automated filling equipment
Preferred Qualifications:
-
2+ years chemical packaging, manufacturing, or scientific/laboratory experience.
-
2+ years experience in ISO/GMP regulated environment
-
Proficiency in basic math-including metrics and conversions

Knowledge of safety rules, GMP, SOP’s, UOP’s.

Mechanical skills with ability to use pumps, electronic balances, and material handling equipment

Experience troubleshooting automated packaging equipment

Strong written and communication skills
-
Effective problem-solving skills.

Experience training employees and working in a team setting

Ability to read and understand written protocols
-
Basic computer literacy (SAP, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Email, etc.)

Ability to operate hand tools, calculators and weighing / measuring devices

Possess a high degree of motivation and are a self-starter

Ability to multi-task while paying close attention to detail
