Your Role:

In this role you will work in a project-focused environment as a member of a multidisciplinary Process Development (PD) group responsible for developing and qualifying manufacturing methods to support new product introductions and optimize existing processes. The PD group includes project managers and technical roles spanning the following disciplines: organic chemistry, molecular biology, microbiology, analytical chemistry, and biochemistry.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Assess and select optimal equipment for various processes, ensuring compatibility and efficiency.
  • Identify and evaluate critical process parameters and control points to maintain process efficiency and product quality.  Optimize conditions for large-scale production.
  • Improve energy usage, reduce waste, and enhance overall productivity of unit operations.
  • Develop and implement experimental plans to test various aspects of the process, ensuring scalability and reproducibility.
  • Work closely with scientists, project managers, and other team members to integrate test data and findings into practical manufacturing processes. Perform and troubleshoot newly developed procedures with the relevant Operations teams to qualify new methods, and aid in training and transferring newly developed methods to the manufacturing team.
  • Present hypotheses, test data, and conclusions to internal and external stakeholders to advance project goals.
  • Bacterial and fungal fermentation, natural extraction, biocatalysis, protein purification, centrifugation, chromatography, advanced filtration methods (tangential flow filtration), lyophilization
  • Organic synthesis, recrystallization, distillation, extraction, chromatography, filtration, freeze drying, spray drying, heat treatment, mixing and blending

 

Who You Are:

 

 Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or other Engineering discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in chemical manufacturing.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands on experience with manufacturing equipment and perform at-scale testing and optimization.
  • Hands-on experience with the common unit operations listed.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively present hypotheses, test data, and conclusions to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including scientists, project managers, and operations teams.
