Your Role:

 

At MilliporeSigma, the Quality Scientist will perform Quality Control activities in support of custom and catalog materials, including testing, peer review of data and advanced trouble shooting.  The position will report to a QC supervisor. 

Job duties include but are not limited to the following:

 

  • Safely perform laboratory operations to meet quality expectations
  • Perform testing of enzyme and associated products in accordance with applicable quality requirements both with and without established protocols
  • Promptly deliver accurate and complete data, adhering to Data Integrity & ALCOA+ principles for proper documentation
  • Conduct independent investigations to solve technical problems with advanced root cause analysis skill
  • Identify, develop and implement process improvements
  • Participate/lead work projects/activities required to achieve group/departmental goals and meet deadlines
  • Provide technical guidance and training to coworkers when needed
  • Contribute to support functions of the lab as needed (e.g., maintain equipment, prepare reagents, restock lab supplies, waste disposal)
  • Communicate the status of operations and bring deviations to the attention of supervisor
  • Represent the department in cross functional activities as needed
  • Participate as needed in quality audits (FDA/Customer)

 

Who You Are
Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelors Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, or related Life Science discipline
  • 5+ years relevant lab/professional experience


Preferred Knowledge and Skills:

 

  • Advanced degree in chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology or other life science discipline
  • 3+ years relevant lab experience
  • Knowledge in chemistry/biochemistry, math and general science  
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Effective verbal communication and technical writing skills
  • Advanced understanding of analytical techniques and instrumentation associated with enzymatic assays (ex. pipettes of all types, spectrophotometer, pH meter, autotitrator, analytical balance)
  • Advanced understanding of enzymes
  • Advanced troubleshooting/root cause analysis skills
  • Effective Corrective and preventative action development skills
