Your Role: 

 

Manufacture technically challenging products and develop and implement improved protocols to address technical problems encountered. Manufacture products, provide technical support to others and perform operations in support of the group and department. 

 

  • Perform production operations. 

  • Set up and prepare products, primarily those requiring a higher level of skill and knowledge. 

  • Ensure quality and quantity of product throughout production processes. 

  • Clean up equipment and working areas after production operations. 

  • Coordinate appropriate disposal of waste and complete compliance documentation. 

  • Communicate and document status of processes, products, and equipment. 

  • Interface with management and customers to collaborate, design, and execute methods, technologies, systems and processes.  

  • Participate as needed in quality audits. 

  • Communicate the status of production operations and bring deviations to the attention of supervisor. 

  • Enter deviations in TrackWise as necessary.  

  • Complete quaility investigations in compliance with quality standards and guidelines. 

  • Enter and complete Change Control records in Trackwise in compliance with quality standards and guidelines. 

  • Provide a complete and accurate batch records at the conclusion of production operations consistent with quality guidelines including Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) if applicable. 

  • Write and modify production procedures consistent with quality guidelines and review other procedures as requested. 

  • Enter hours worked and raw materials used into SAP. 

  • Ensure all applicable log books have been filled out completely as required by current procedures. 

  • Perform and interpret analytical evaluations of products and intermediates. 

  • Review analytical procedures to ensure that they are currently used by Analytical Services. 

  • Perform necessary analytical tests and evaluate results both during the process as well as at the completion of the run. 

  • Ensure purity of starting material, intermediates and final products are consistent with history and product specifications. 

  • Develop new analytical methods to improve the efficiency of existing and new processes. 

  • Develop raw material specifications for critical raw materials. 

  • Perform daily operations in a safe and orderly manner. 

  • Follow production procedures and safety policies at all time. 

  • Use, clean, and store all personal protective gear appropriately. 

  • Label all in-process equipment and containers properly. 

  • Take the necessary action to resolve unsafe conditions. 

  • Participate in required safety and quality training and other related activities. 

  • Maintain good housekeeping in laboratory and working areas. 

  • Independently conduct investigations and implement ideas for process improvements using existing technology and/or novel approaches. 

  • Aggressively identify opportunities for process improvement. 

  • Conduct independent investigations solving significant production problems. 

  • Develop, implement and document significant process improvements. 

  • Implement the scale-up of improvement ideas on existing processes. 

  • Be a technical resource to other department personnel. 

  • Train co-workers. 

  • Investigate and introduce new technology to the department. 

  • Provide expertise as necessary to groups across the organization. 

  • Assist in New Product Development and Transfer. 

  • Works closely with product management to identify new product opportunities and to provide feedback on feasibility of new products for production. 

  • Design and implement trials to determine feasibility and perform troubleshooting of new production procedures. 

  • Transfer new procedures into process development and/or production. 

  • Implementation of new instrumentation. 

  • Evaluate and justify new instrumentation, equipment, or technology.  

  • Provide accurate, concise, and clear documentation to facilitate use of new instruments by other personnel. 

 

Who You Are: 

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering or other scientific discipline

  • 2+ years’ of industry experience. 

 

Preferred Qualifications:  

 

  • PhD. 

  • 3+ years of practical experience. 

  • 7+ years experience in a laboratory and/or larger scale chemical processing facility. 

  • Broad knowledge in chemistry or biochemistry with specific and relevant areas of a higher level of expertise. 

  • Strong practical knowledge of the relevant production equipment, analytical equipment and techniques. 

  • Proven track record of process improvements demonstrated proficiency in the use of scientific methods. 

  • Safe chemical handling methods. 

  • Communication skills, oral and written. 

  • Research skills. 

  • Computer skills. 

  • Mechanical skills. 

  • Trouble shooting skills. 

  • Interpersonal skills.
