Your Role:
 

At EMD Electronics, the Maintenance Mechanic will support production and quality goals by ensuring safe and reliable operation of machinery and mechanical equipment in a fast paced and dynamic work environment.

 

  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on rotating equipment to include pumps, reciprocating compressors, agitators, gear boxes, and process refrigeration systems. 
  • Perform basic building maintenance throughout the site.
  • Utilize diagrams, sketches, OEM manuals, and engineering specifications to troubleshoot and repair malfunctions. 
  • Effectively communicate job status, document job activities and observations.
  • Accurately perform inventory transactions.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by complying with site procedures and safety programs.
  • Dayshift position but includes opportunity for scheduled and emergency overtime on nights and weekends. Transition to a rotating shift possible.

 

Physical Attributes:

 

  • Work in confined spaces and at heights of 60 feet.
  • Use of hand and power tools including precision measuring instruments.
  • Operate forklift and/or aerial work platforms.

Who You Are:

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3+ years of experience in an industrial maintenance role.

 

 Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Trade School certificate OR Participation in a union mechanical apprenticeship.
  • Experience with safety work permits and lock-out/tag-out procedures.
  • Previous process experience in a chemical plant.
  • Knowledge of basic electricity.
  • Knowledge of mill, drill, and lathe operations including understanding of dimension, tolerance, and fit.
  • Knowledge of rolling element and journal bearing replacement and maintenance.
  • Lubrication practices and principles.
  • Static & dynamic seal, couplings, and drives & alignment maintenance.
  • Experience with the setup and operation of an Oxy-Acetylene Torch, fitting including functional knowledge of materials, fittings, and threading.
  • Computer skills to review and record maintenance history in work orders.
