Your Role

As a Mechanical Project Manager in the US Project Execution team, you will lead the planning and execution of complex projects involving new asset creation or modifications to existing assets. Your responsibilities will include execution strategy selection, scope development, estimating, planning, hazard reviews, design, contractor selection, construction and safety management, commissioning, startup, and turnover to Operations.

Success in this role requires strong communication skills to collaborate with global, cross-functional teams and translate complex issues into actionable solutions. You will also play a key role in optimizing internal and external resources by assessing the technical capabilities of engineers, suppliers, and contractors.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivery of capital projects safely, meeting quality and performance objectives and meeting cost and schedule commitments. 
  • Oversee design development from process scope to detailed engineering, collaborating with teams to define construction scope and requests for proposals.
  • Direct interface with construction general contractors during the bidding, award, execution, and project closeout/punch list phases.
  • Participate in negotiations with general contractors and bids/proposals evaluations.
  • Construction document management including submittal reviews and management of RFI’s, change orders, and invoicing.
  • Coordination of overall project schedule including updates with contractors to monitor the progress and productivity of field activities.
  • Project Close-Out tasks include punch list tracking, as-built drawing submissions, commissioning and pre-startup safety reviews.
  • Strategic management of internal stakeholders (Operations, process design, finance, procurement, executive) to report project health and gain alignment as projects move from development to execution and completion.

 

Who You Are

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years’ experience in chemical manufacturing.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in engineering and construction of chemical or manufacturing plants, including piping, instrumentation, and process controls.
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills in fast-paced environments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail.
  • Professionalism and urgency in project execution.
  • Capital project management experience in chemical process plants.
  • Expertise in industrial plant construction, safety practices, and equipment installation.
  • Knowledge of OSHA PSM requirements and hands-on experience with chemical plant safety programs.
  • Proficiency in P&IDs, flow diagrams, logic diagrams, and compliance with design standards.
  • Strong understanding of project engineering systems and safety challenges in specialty manufacturing.
  • Proven ability to solve complex problems while managing cost, schedule, quality, and scope.
  • Proficient in PC software for managing project schedules and budgets.
  • PMP certification is a plus.
