Location: The Process Development Engineer is an onsite position located in Tamaqua, PA with minimal travel required to meet business needs.

 

Your Role:

We are seeking a Process Development Engineer to join our Scale-up group in Tamaqua, PA. In this role, you will focus on scaling up processes from Research and Development (R&D) to enhance and develop operations related to purification, packaging, synthesis, and returned container processing for new organosilicon and organometallic products currently in development. You will also integrate innovative technologies to advance smart manufacturing practices.

As the engineer, you will design, lead, and manage various scale-up projects, collaborating closely with early-stage R&D teams to ensure processes are scalable. Your responsibilities will include designing experimental optimization protocols, conducting tests, analyzing data, compiling reports, and creating technology transfer documentation.

 

The candidate will serve as the technical lead for stage gated projects. 

  • Lead design hazard reviews and develop comprehensive project proposals, including detailed scope descriptions, Process Flow Diagrams (PFD), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), cost estimates, concept drawings, and project timelines.
  • Spearhead initiatives to upgrade existing processes and support the development of new product offerings.
  • Collaborate closely with vendors and contractors throughout the design and fabrication phases during project execution.
  • Regularly document project results and deliver oral presentations on project status.
  • Ensure proper intellectual asset management is maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Maintain detailed records, monitor project expenditures, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

 

Who You Are

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or a related technical field, such as electrical or mechanical engineering or chemistry.
  • Over 4 years of experience in the chemical industry, specifically in process development.

OR

  • Master’s degree in chemical engineering or a related technical field, such as electrical or mechanical engineering or chemistry.
  • Over 2 years of experience in the chemical industry, specifically in process development.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Proficient in the design and construction of pilot plants and analytical instruments, including FTIR, GC, ICPMS, and Raman spectroscopy.
  • Experienced in process design, synthesis, and liquid adsorption systems, as well as ultra-high-purity specialty chemical packaging and handling, including sublimation techniques.
  • Knowledgeable in handling air-sensitive materials and silicon hydride chemicals.
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to safety, health, and environmental leadership.
  • Possesses enthusiasm, innovation, skill, and a self-starter attitude.
  • Proven track record of maintaining safe work practices and environments.
  • Strong observational, perceptive, and creative skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a problem-solving mindset and a systematic approach.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple high-priority deliverables simultaneously.

 

Pay Range for this position: $111,800 - $167,800

The offer range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base pay compensation for this position. The actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level of experience, education, skills, and other job-related factors. Position may be eligible for sales or performance-based bonuses. Benefits offered by the Company include health insurance, paid time off (PTO), retirement contributions, and other perquisites.
